Hi all, I'm new to infinity, but have read the tesco tactica about all the caledonian units, and I've got ahead of myself and made a 300pt list based on the tactica and what I'd like to do with them. I went with 300pts as the infinity websites getting started section shows sample 300pt lists, I do appreciate that 300pts is a larger list.

Caledonian Highlander Army
Points: 297
SWC: 5.00

Squad: 1
Caledonian Mormaers - T2 Rifle, Lieutenant
Scots Guards - AP Marksman Rifle
Scots Guards - AP Marksman Rifle
Scots Guards - 2 Submachine Guns
Scots Guards - Missile Launcher

Squad: 2
Highlander Caterans - T2 Sniper Rifle
Highlander Caterans - T2 Sniper Rifle
Scots Guards - Molotok (2nd regiment, camo)
Uxia McNeill - Covert Action
1st Highlanders S.A.S. - CR/AP
1st Highlanders S.A.S. - CR/AP

I don't know if this list would work better in one squad or multiple, I only did it in multiple to show the different units which are similar (linked or camo'd). Please give me any thoughts and advice, again I am new and will not be looking to use this straight away, I'll probably just get the starter set to learn with and then look to progress to this if viable.

Regards.

first thing, i dont play ariadna, second thig, remember its not the list its u,this isnt 40k, if you can make it work great, there is no such thing as a "viable" list in infinity, every unit has its uses.
second thing, max out your orders asmuch as possable in your squads.
now from what i can see you have alot of long ranged weapons, while they can be used effectivly, if your new i will always suggest spitfires and HMG,
if you want to use these units i would suggest making this list into a single squad, 5 minis in 1 squad is going to leave you short on orders,
also you have 5 scots guard there, you may asell make them a 5-man fireteam, will benefit far more.
also you might mght a couple of specialists, a 112 doctor might be good,
a dozer with acouple traktor muls, they are super cheao remotes,
thats about all the advice i can give you

I'm really not the guy to ask but you've been waiting a week I see so I'll do my best. I'm going to keep this as simple as I can so there is definitely more information but this is a start and maybe someone can come along and go deeper for you.

Starting with the basics. Almost every list you come across is going to use 1 squad. Orders can only be shared between squad members and you can only have10 order supplying units in a squad.
How this effects the list you are trying to achieve. You have 11 order supplying units between 2 squads. I would advise you drop 1 unit, condense the remaining 10 into 1 squad and use the spare points to upgrade what you have.

In addition, putting your 5 Scots Guard in 1 squad allows you to form the most beneficial link team available as you get a bonus depending on how many units are in the link. Link teams have some great advantages and operate as a mini squad within a squad.

Definitely pick up a starter and a copy, or free download, of N3 when it comes out and start playing some games, you'll learn quicker on the job.

Hope that helps. Someone else will hopefully tell you more.
