Subject: [2000] - Mixed Forces of the Inquisition

Twisted Trueborn with Blaster

Hello! My aim is to make a mixed Inquisition purgation force that drops on planets full of heretics and xenos that are desperately crying out to be purged.
Grey Knights- Nemesis Strike Force
HQ
Librarian: ML3, storm bolter, Hammer, Domina Liber Daemonica, melta bombs
Troops
5x Terminators: 2 hammers, 3 halberds, 1 psycannon, melta bombs
Heavy
2x Dreadknights: greatsword, personal teleporter, heavy incinerator
---------------------------------------
Imperial Knights Detachment
1x Knight Paladin
---------------------------------------
Storm Wing Formation (Red Hunters)
Stormraven Gunship: multi-melta, assault cannon
2x Stormtalon Gunships: lascannon
---------------------------------------
Inquisitorial Detachment
HQ
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor: Liber Heresius, bolt pistol, power sword
Elites
Henchmen: 2x crusaders, 7x death cult assasins, 1x ministorum priest w/ storm bolter
--------------------------------------
Officio Assassinorum Detachment
Callidus Assassin
=====================
The Inquisition ride in the Stormraven and they flood the board the turn they come in.
The terminators and libby deep strike to a good up-field spot and the dreadknights zonk up the board to support. The Knight wades up on his own terms. The Callidus will pop up and nom nom nom the biggest threat on the board and force the opponent to deal with her while air support is arriving.
Goal is not to win any tournaments, but my meta has a bunch of tourny players so I'd like it to be gobs of Inquisition fun and not get hatestomped.

I'll leave comments on the Grey Knights to someone who knows their codex.
The Knight....is a Knight. It's a lethal melee threat and decent mobile fire support at the same time. There are few Armies of the Imperium which won't benefit from adding a Knight Paladin.
The Storm Wing....fine. Plenty of top cover for 2000 points, and all of it garuanteed to arrive at once. I'll be honest, I prefer the flexibility of a Typhoon launcher over the lascannons, but it is the more expensive option.
The Inquisition.... Um. I don't get what the Liber Heresius is for. It's not for scout, because you're starting in the Storm Raven. It's not for Hatred, because the Ministorum Priest has Zealot.
Equally, this is blatantly an assault unit, so why the storm bolter? Wouldn't an eviscerator be a better buy?
Finally, I would consider one or two more crusaders and/or a second priest. War Hymns are awesome when paired with a good save - The Emperor Protects gives you a 3++ rerollable save, which can stop virtually any assault threat dead whilst the death cultists ginsu them.

Yea, the 3++ rerollable is amazing. I recently fought a nid player who had one of the bug titans on the field (no clue what the name was, but had a 1 foot by 1 foot base size). I got my little unit of 5 crusaders, 1 DCA and a priest into hand to hand with it and locked the 1000 point (or so) nid up for something like 4 turns.
I'll give you, I was getting whittled down and I could not hurt it in the slightest.... but totally worth it. Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW. One down side to inquisition priests is that they don't get the Sisters trick of the "litanies of faith" relic. Sometimes its good to have 2 priests to make sure that you get your prayer off.

Very helpful, thank you.
So if I drop the Liber Heresius, all melta bombs and the storm bolter (which was really just points filler) I can adjust the henchman squad to:
4xcrusaders
5x death cult
1x priest w/ eviscerator
I don't see any other place I can cut enough points to double down on redundant priests as everything else is pretty well min/maxed from what I can see. I could drop the special weapons from the terminators, but then they'd be no threat to most things.
Thoughts?

That force should be good enough.
The Priest's War Hymns are a nice-to-have, but with four crusaders tanking wounds (and his own rosarius) the unit takes some killing, and Zealot on five death cultists can realistically butcher an entire marine squad before they can strike...
A second priest is nice, but not compulsory. I wouldn't bother cuttng weapons for him. He's not redundany, either - if you pass The Emperor Protects with the first one, you can take the reroll-to-wound War Hymn for your second one.
One question from the Cheap Seats - what does the Domina Liber Daemonica do? The Grimoire of True Names for the Inquisition is daemon-specific but only costs a pittance and is bloody devastating...

Liber gives you a extra Santic spell.
So the Libby essentially knows 5 of 7 spells from Sanctic
Primaris, ML3, Liber.
And it lets you reroll 1 on the psychic tests.

Kept the Librarian's Domina Liber Daemonica, dropped the Liber Heresius on the Inquisitor. I was taking it for hatred, which was dumb of me since the Priest does that anyway.

Looks like a decent list to me. Time to try it out and see how you like it.
With that many DCA attacks it would be tempting to forget the safety 'emperor protects' and go with the re-roll wounds against most marine squads. On the charge they would be dishing out 20 attacks, hitting on 3+ (with re-rolls due to zealot), wounding on 4+ (re-rolls due to hymn) and the marines would not get an armor save.
Clearly this is dependent on what you are assaulting, but it sounds like a good spot removal system to me.
