I've just been re-reading this bit and just need a little clarification. Pg. 97, Skies of Fury... "If any of the models cannot be deployed, the entire unit is destroyed."

Does this mean that if any model fails their Dangerous Terrain Test, the whole unit is destroyed? ?Or if they get ANY type of Deepstrike Mishap? What about the Mishap where you are placed back into Reserves, or your Enemy Places them somewhere else... kind of a funny situation, I guess the wind took them away.

If it's a Dangerous Terrain test, then they were already on the board, ie deployed.

DS Mishap AFAIK specifically overrules Skies of Fury (by stating what happens when they mishap).

In the case of Skies of Fury, a Mishap = unit destroyed. Its stupid, but it's the way the rule works.

The other two Mishap results for normal Deep Striking are 'Misplaced' or 'Delayed', neither of those really works for jumping out of a plane. In my opinion it's less stupid than just using the normal Mishap table.

What makes it stupid is that we should be able to drop the units without scatter (or with reduced scatter), and therefore avoid mishaps altogether. It's not like the technology doesn't exist for precise placement.

But the Misplaced result CAN still be deployed. So is it just the other two that wipe the unit out?

Depends if they mean "at that time" or not.

Misplaced means they haven't deployed, they might in later turns, but at this point they haven't. It's not entirely clear on this.

I thought that was delayed. Misplaced is when your opponent places you anywhere.

You're quite right, got the two mixed up. Sorry.

It would seem like Misplaced is the only result that would leave the unit still deployed, so the other mishaps would leave the unit completely destroyed. (Like I said, the wind might have pulled you waaaaaay off course.)

Sounds about right?
