Subject: Question: Eldar Mind War

A Ulthwe Seer Council has 3 Farseers with Mind War. What is the correct targeting sequence? 1) 3 Farseers target the same model within the same unit. 2) 3 Farseers target 3 single models within the same unit. 3) 3 Farseers target 3 models within their range. Thanks.

1+2, Since a unit cannot split its fire and Mindwar targets a specific model in the unit.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

I agree with the baneswords post but I have seen people argue 3. So let the argument begin.

Yep, another old codex not really meshing well with 4th edition. The nex Eldar Codex can't come fast enough.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

The answer is simple. Ask your opponent before you kick him in the capital of taiwon.
Otherwise play the powers as you read them in the eldar codex. I lean towards 3 models in range, not necessarily in the same unit.

Because the eldar codex it old, has no 4th edition FAQs that help with anything.. the issue is fairly clear I think, however many people have other interpretations. The real issue is that the eldar codex is so old, many of the powers and abilities in it do not work right in 4th edition, if at all. The power is also unique enough that it can not be compared well to any other attack in the game. The way I have seen it, and played it for the last.. oh.. 5 years or so from local tournaments to conflicts to grand tournements with no problem is.. The unit may target a unit to shoot at with their pistols. First Farseer may choose any model in range and line of sight (so they may not target models in combat, or in transports) 2nd may choose any model in range and line of sight. 3rd may choose any model in range and line of sight. As the power is written, "Any model" it means just that, and it is not shooting it is "instead of shooting" and does not follow most of the shooting rules. So each farseer could potentially target a different unit with their mind war.

Thanks for your input...I guess I'll just see how my opponent plays it and then proceed to Mind War him/her that way.
