Quick question
On a regular Taurux, the AC are mounted on the turret, so 360 deg firing arc.

On a Taurux Prime, the Taurux battle cannon / gatling cannon / missile launcher are on the turret.
My question: The Hot Shot volley guns or the AC, what is their firing arc? Do they have a 45 deg arc as if they are sponson mounted. Or do they just fire forward?

I cant find it in the codex or the BRB.
Thanks

i believe it is a forward facing gun only, which kinda sucks. I play tempestus and this actually annoys me quite a bit.

so, if they are forward facing only, isnt there still a small arc of fire?

Pretty sure they're hull mounted (45 deg) not sponson.

And of that 45 degrees, almost half of it is blocked by the vehicle itself.

But the weapon is on both sides, so the net result of a slightly larger arc then a single gun (just with a tiny blind spot in the centre).

Mount the ca. besiedelt the Main weapons then you have all of em at 360 degree

Yes, my bad. Was thinking they were two separate weapons instead of one system. Never see them on the tabletop so its easy to forget.

Which would be the very definition of 'Modeling For Advantage' and the rules don't support them as being turret-mounted.

Hmmmm. was looking again at the codex. Those HSV and AC are both twin linked. Sooooo, if they were mounted on the turret also, would that still be considered MFA?

Yes, because you would be increasing the arc the could fire in.

You're converting the model, to stick weapons where they don't normally belong, in order to gain an increased Arc of Fire. That's most definitely Modeling for Advantage.

Are they though? When rereading the codex I am not so sure.

I found this thread looking for an answer because I was wondering myself. Are you sure they are not just hull mounted weapons?

Look on page 86 of the codex: there is a column of 3 Tauroxes, of which 2 have no turret mounted weapon, only hull mounted autocannons. 1 has turret mounted autocannons, and its not a Taurox prime because it has no hull mounted weapons.

Beartree: check GW's site.
The regular Taurox can be constructed with the autocannons either mounted on a turret, or on the sides.
It seems that most of the players mount them as turrets. This might be because a 360 degree arc of fire at a good height is better than a 45 degree arc incapable of firing over small fences... or perhaps they object to placing the autocannons right behind the vehicle's doors. Seriously, anybody trying to disembark while those guns are firing are just going to get cut in half. Oh, and the shot will either ricochet into the crew compartment or tear the door off.

True, like now where in the Rules does it say any weapons are on any Turret or side mounted or anything.
It does in the Fluff, but not the Rules.

GW has been known to stick rules in what would otherwise be considered 'fluff'.
