Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

Ah, just taking a short break after playing for the last four hours. Great game. I have it for my PS3, but it suffered the same fate as the rest of the games I bought for the PS3: I'm just not a console gamer, so it's very hard to stay in the "gaming mood" on the couch, so I just gravitate back to my computer games. But, of all the PS3 games I have (which are less than a dozen, the PS3 is mainly just our DVD/BR player now), it's the one that kept calling to me. And now, I have it on Steam.

So far, it appears to be a very good port. KB+M controls work very well, graphics are beautiful on the PC (not locked to any specific resolution or framerate, unlike some other ports). No stability issues for me.

For those who are unfamiliar, it is something like an anime version of WWII, where a magical mineral is the energy source used to power all modern tech. It's a series of missions where you lead your squad into battle (while leveling them up and improving their equipment, and upgrading your tank, in between). The battles are turn based, but you control each soldier one at time from a zoomed in 3rd person view.

"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

This is good news. Everything about this game seemed up my alley but I didn't have a PS3 at the time. I'll have to check it out as soon as I have a PC again.

Missionary On A Mission

Loved the PS3 version. My only (super minor) issue was that Lancers were my least used class (especially when you get the better AT orders). But I loved the characters and the fact that some developed flaws and worked better with different people. It is a beautiful and fun game. Plus permanent death made me be very careful and gain attachment to them.

I still need to beat the PS3 version. (I am stuck at that one two person stealth mission.) Though with a PC version I am wondering about mod possibilities?

There is not this idea.

Very neat. I remember wanting to try this one out back in the day, but I've never been good with console controls. Maybe now I'll have a chance! I love turn based squad games.

The story looks... a bit cheesy, though.

I don't know about the story being "cheesy,"but it does have some of the usual JRPG tropes that tend to annoy me: Far too many characters are too young or even underage, and they just had to include a cute little animal mascot/pet.

I'm only about a third of the way into the game, though.

Excellent Game. Main reason I bought a PS3.

Having beat the game, I can safely say that you want to IGNORE THE STORY.

It breaks so many aesops of it, so many people act like honor bound idiots, that 3/4th of the plot would be finished if they weren't seriously so idiotic.

I can't recommend this game enough. I love it.
Also kinda plays like Infinity....hhmmm....
But the story and strategy are top notch.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

That's rather true of RL human history, too...

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I played the heck out of that game and loved it. If you still have a PSP, do yourself a favor and get the sequel. It adds branching class progression and differ types of vehicles like artillery and APCs.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

Maybe cheesy is the wrong word. Inherently absurd? I dunno.

I've been giving it a go, and I feel like I know what's going to happen pretty far ahead of time. Like, I know who's going to die.

Gameplay is good, though.

Heard very good stories about the gameplay, but seeing the art style makes me throw up in my mouth. Sad :/

Not a fan of the anime aesthetic?

My pennies went for Tales from the Borderlands. I do intend to buy the Valkyrie Chronicles in time for winter holidays.

If there was a button to eradicate all traces from Anime from the face of the earth, I'd press it.

Twice.

I picked it up as well, I neither own a PS3 nor am I big on consoles. I played it a bit so far and I am liking it a lot, especially the idea that a pesudo-Netherlands is fighting against an evil not-German Empire and winning.

Also, looking at the map of the continent, so many Dutch city and town names.
