I've been largely out of buying/building 40k for a few years and was wondering if the following is legal. In the Champions of Fenris book, you can take a company of the great wolf detachment that replaces the compulsory troops with elites choices. With space wolves, servitors are an elite choice that takes up a slot if there is no iron priest. In 7th edition, do choices that "don't take up a slot" still count towards compulsory choices? If so, can you just take a single servitor as both your "elite" slots to make a tiny army? I've pretty much just got a Logan conversion and a thunderwolf pack that I plan on making an HQ out of and was wondering if this gives me a small force that I can field along with other imperials.

Wolf Lord (HQ) 105pts
Servitor (Elite) 10pts
Servitor (Elite) 10pts

I just wanted to make sure that I didn't miss a restriction somewhere about single model servitor squads. I realize that the servitors are largely wasted points (and give up first blood easily) and the army isn't competitive but that isn't exactly a priority for me as I'd just like to field my figs in a battleforged army along with other imperials.

umm yeah it's legal but that is the skimpiest game of 40k ever. Bar learning rules, but yeah it's legal.

Thanks for the quick reply. As stated above, I don't plan on using that 125pts alone but rather along with Logan Grimnar and other Imperials like my IG more as an a small Space Wolf ally force. It's more of a proof of concept list as I wasn't sure if taking two servitor squads of 1 model each was enough to satisfy the two elite slot requirement. I've seen a bunch of lists where people talk about taking iron priests on thunderwolves instead to fill up the elite slots but not this.

Ha I get it. I abused that little trick a few times in making hypothetical Space Wolf lists. Need 3 drop pods huh?

Actually, no, I don't own that many and the ones I do are painted up in other chapter's colors. I just want to hopefully be able to use my primarch SW character conversions somehow in a small add on force without resorting to unbound. I hadn't planned on other forces "borrowing" space wolf drop pods though.
