I started a militarium tempestus as allies to my guard (hell why not).
Just cant decide the fun yet coolest way to go up the board.

A: Nothing says stormtrooper like a couple Valkyries flying in.

B: Hell no, go taurux prime....roll in shooting.

C: screw the rides...save the points take an extra squad. Deep strike those bad boys in gun blazing. Go big or go home.

Personally, I always have and will go with option 3. Take at least 20 but preferably more of them, drop them all into effective range and make sure you're getting the first shots with them.

Out of interest, what prompted you to take them as allies rather than Elites in the Guard? I usually prefer them as IG as I'm not such a fan of the Command Squad, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Well I decided on them as allies because I can take a cheap commisar, place him with the unit or another unit. Then my scions count as troops and not just elites.

Plus I could hide the commissar not far from some ratlings to counter that low leadership

With a valkyreie unit, you get scions on the ground and a aircraft for fire support and harassment of enemy units in highly mobile form.
