I really like tanks. I want to make an Astra Militarum army with a Tank Commander + 2 LRBT, a unit of 3 LRBT, a unit of 3 Hellhounds, and a Stormsword. Would this be any good in a 2000 point game?

Since we have a very melta Heavy Meta, sternguard melta all around, you have nothing against flyers, the Tank Commander orders are incredibly Bad, You will HAVE Problems in most missions to claim objectives, You will get Tide up in closeups Combat Even by emp Fire Warriors... No... Want work

Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.

A tank wall is actually nice. But i'd not go for LRBT. Choose other variants.

Pask variants:
- Pask in a Punisher with multimelta sponsons and a lazcannon will put hurt on anything. Even flyers are not safe. And when he's your warlord. the damage output is even higher! AV11 back armor. It's one of the killiest and mos versatile tanks you can hope to get with it being effective vs basically anything! The only real downside is 24' range
- Pask in an executioner - if he's your warlord, he allows to reroll overheats which is huge. Also applies to your squadron-mates. However, the tank itself is somewhat situational but will be fine vs most things other than horde armies and av14 wall but the fact that he gives tank-hunter for a bunch of plazma blasts makes it more dangerous for medium vehicles
- Pask in a vanquisher - some people like it for it's reliability and long range. However, it suffers a bit from not actually killing it's targets cause he still needs a 6 to explode and 1-shot weapons are not great at stripping HP off.

Non-Pask variants:
- Eradicator with heavy bolters is cheap and generally great for anti-infantry. They boast a s6 ap4 ignore cover large blast that's not ordnance. Man, tau hate it! My choice for a pasknisher retinue when he's not a warlord. Besides, when you combine the main gun and 9 HB shots, it's not a lot less killy vs meq in 5+ cover than a battle tank
- Executioner - it's gona glance itself to death. But if you're running it in a squadron with Pask who's your warlord, it's pretty safe with rerollable overheats. Good option too
- Demolisher - even though it's become more expensive, s10 ap2 ordnance is still great vs the right foe
- Exterminator is now cheaper and is an overall nice tank if not for the fact that IG allready has easy access to autocannons that can ignore cover with orders. But if you're not running an AC platoon, exterminator is a good thing to consider.

Note that tank orders are quite useful. Especially if you have a pasknisher + eradicator or executioner. It helps a lot when you want to shoot different targets. It's not bad for a flatout move when desperately needed. And shooting + cover helps too, especially vs turn 2 deepstrike antitank units.
And about melta. IG have easy access to cheap and effective bauble wrap bodies. Someone brings melta sternguard? Great! For the price of 10 melta-sternguards in a drop-pod you can get a platoon and a hell ton of conscripts to bauble wrap the tanks all day long.

Hellhound is a nice tool but i'd not oveerinvest in it. Don't think they can earn their points back by direct killing. But in combination with other stuff, they're nice. Fast, av12 side, decent anti-infantry weapon. A bit overpriced but do the job if placed correctly. I'd push one at the flank.
