Hey guys,

The group of guys I play with are going to be dling a group forgeworld order to save on shipping to the US. I would like to capitalize on this opportunity and get one or two things if possible. My budget is small are $60 (somewhat flexible) and want some advice on what to get. Those look does play some factor I am looking for something more useful and not just a different pattern of a Gamesworkshop plastic model. One thi g I was thinking was the tarantula turrets. Please give your suggestions and why the item is worthwhile since I dont know most of them.

Thanks guys

Welcome to the Guard and especially Forgeworld IG! First and foremost, are you looking for a specific Guard Regiment? Or just something to add on to your already existing army?

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

On moon miranda.

If you're looking at Imperial Guard units, Rapier Laser Destroyers are very practical, cool, and useful units that are both solid anti-tank and very hardy. Heavy Mortars or Thudd Guns would also be good choices, but are more anti-infantry oriented (think Wyvern, but even cheaper, though immobile).

$60 is kinda hard to pick something out though. You could probably get a couple of the above artillery units.

If you're of the Flier persuasion, you could pick up a couple of Vendetta conversion kits to convert Valkyries for Vendettas, but those are also very easy to convert on your own.

You could almost pick up a basic Medusa for $60.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

$60 isn't very much. You might be able to get a single thudd gun or rapier, but just one isn't going to be a very effective unit. And the sentry guns are cheap, but a sentry gun or two is just a couple twin-linked HBs in exchange for a heavy support slot. Are you sure you can't afford to spend more than that? If you're able to get to the $100-150 range you can buy full units: earthshaker/medusa guns, aircraft, etc. A punisher cannon Vulture ($120ish) is probably the best single unit you can get, without knowing anything else about your army.

I can move my budget up slightly, but school, a part time job, and Christmas coming up my budget it a little tight. My guard are just generic guard with an armor focus one Leman Russ', Chimeras, and Wyverns and I want to add some Forgeworld flare to them. The Rapier Laser look like fun especially putting them inside a void shield generator. As for the Vendetta conversion I was just going to try that one one my own.

You could also go for a Ryza pattern or Alpha pattern Russ, those are really amazing looking kits.

You could also get 2-3 forgeworld russ turrets. They look incredible, and allow you to run several different russ patterns as well.

If you can manage 72 usd then you could get 2 thudd guns. That would be a pretty decent amount of anti infantry.

A single rapier las destroyer will probably not do a lot alone and will take a HS slot. If you can manage a unit of 3 they are fantastic anti tank for an IG army.

OP has a very limited budget and specifically doesn't want an alternate model for a GW plastic kit. Buying fancy LRBT turrets is something you do when you want the best looking tanks you can get and don't care about the price, not when you have a limited budget for expanding your army.

how about some hostile environment HQ and plasma gunners for vets? A griffon is quite good both aesthetically and in game(armor battle group list) or as proxy as wyvern.

perhaps inquisitor lok and company as allies..

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to go the with Rapier Batteries because they fist my play style a bit better. Down the road I hope to get the Leman Russ variants and some of the fliers, but for now this will do.
