Hi,

A Friend of Mine rounds to the Magic 30 next week and he got recently into military modelling.
He is a Pilot in the french forces and on Board of a AH-1W Super Cobra.
I want to give him this helicopter. ( or if Not possible another attack helicopter) but all the model kits i find in the revell or faller, tamyia and italeri Range seem to Lack details and i want a realy good, detailed one.
Anyone got an idea where i can buy such an item ?

Most accurate models tend to involve after-market parts.
Try this for an accurate AH-1W based on the 1/48 Italeri kit.

Search some of the scale model forums (there are tons - Google can help you find relevant threads) for kit reviews. For all the casual builders, there are also tons of rivet counters - you should be able to find out how the various kits stack up in terms of detail and realism, as well as fit/ease of building.

Even picking the best kit available (within your price rage, at least), plastic injection molding has its limitations. Aftermarket and/or scratchbuilt parts are, as winterdyne says, required to really get the most realism out of model kits. Cast resin replacement parts, photoetched brass, custom cut canopy masks, and expanded decal sheets are available for a wide range of kits, quite possibly including your intended helicopter. Things like antennae, grab bars, etc. are often better replaced with wire, monofilament (fishi line) or brass rod cut and bent to shape, after the (usually oversized) molded on detail has been cut away.
