Hello, I'm new to Eldar. I'm trying to find a nice list that I can collect, can use in friendly games. The only way I can collect things is to make a list test it a bit with proxies, fix it and make and paint it. My open ended armies never get finished. I like infiltrating, and dropping my troops down second, hopefully wrong footing my opponent in the process, HEEHEE. The list I am thinking about is: Autrach - Jetbike, Fusion Gun, Power Weapon Warlock - Singing Spear, Jet Bike 5 Rangers 5 Rangers 5 Windrider Jet Bikes, 1 Cannon (HQs go here!) 10 Striking Scorpions - Exarch, Scorpion Claw Wave Serpent - Bright Lance 10 Striking Scorpions - Exarch, Scorpion Claw Wave Serpent - Bright Lance 9 Swooping Hawks - Exarch, Hawks Talon 8 Swooping Hawks - Exarch, Hawks Talon WraithLord - Flamers, Bright Lance, Glaive (because I like the model with the sword on it!). I'm stuck in the 6th so I am presuming I can infiltrate the wave serpents with the scorpions. The basic plan is: -Stick the Wraithlord Near an objective and to protect the rangers and the Jet bikes behind a nice big building. - Hawks in reserve (Autarch to help the reserve rolls). - Deploy rangers to hold objectives. Deploy Scorpions and serpents to suit who I am facing. - Ideally hawks start in reserve and use the wave serpents / other things to deploy, shoot then battle focus behind my moving terrain. Against some forces or if the terrain is favourable they may start on the table. Any thoughts or slight tweaks I can make? I think I have enough anti-armour. No sure about anti-air, what's the go to unit in elder for this?

I personally wouldn't take two units of Scorpions or Hawks. I won't get into building a WS spam list, as I enjoy using different models from the Codex but I think there's some other choices that could give you a bit more balance.
Instead of one of the Scorpion squads I'd take a unit of Dire Avengers or Guardians. Two 5 man squads of Rangers sound good on paper, but with a lot of stuff ignoring cover and drop podding flamers to contend with, they've never really lasted past turn 2 in most of my games. One they're gone you have no troops choices.
That's not as bad as before as everything is scoring, but troops from a bound list still trump anything else when claiming objectives. It also will turn the WS they arrive in, into a troops choice, which is nice! a 2 for 1, as it were.
I'd perhaps swap one squad of swooping hawks for warp spiders. These are one of my favourite units at the moment, they are highly manoeuverable, and can shred light vehicles, as their monofilamnet guns become ST7 against vehicles. Also handy for popping behind aegis and laying down a barrage of fire on camping Dev squads, then hopefully jumping away to cover
Anti-air usually comes down to twin SL War Walkers, three can put down 24 S6 shots, which should be enough to glance something to death. The other option is the Crimson Hunter who specialises in dog fighting, this would also offer you some extra anti tank in the shooting phase.
Speaking of which, no Fire Dragons? Absolutely great unit, stick them in a WS, deploy near a tank and watch it go boom (unless you're like me and miss 5 out of 7 shots!)

Thanks for the input lots to think about.
I'm still in the 6th ed. Can vehicle claim objectives in the 7th?
I think I will get some dire avengers into a wave serpent. I was toying with getting them into the list as I am missing semi-rending shruiken goodness from the force, I may be able to then squeeze another warlock into the force or take the warlock off the jetbike to help buff the avengers.
I need to have a look at warp spiders again. I'm not sure I can find the point for warwalkers but I was thinking about putting scatter lasers on the waveserpents to get:
4 TL scatter laser shots - one should hit.
Then 3 TL shruiken shots - one should hit
Average of 4? TL Wave shield shots - one should hit.
That give me 2 S6 and 1 S7 hits for around 130pts.
130pt of war walker - 2 models.
One SLas fires first - 1 ish Hit
One SL TL firest - 1.5 ish hits.
2 Models 4 or 5 S6 hits.
Thanks again for the input, I will put my thinking cap back on.

The new rule is that a dedicated transport takes on the unit type that deploys inside of it. So if DA's take it, it then becomes a troops choice in it's own right, if the Scorpions take it then it's an elite choice.
I think pretty much anything except flyers can claim an objective, but troops in a bound army are the best at it. You can't contest a troop unit on a flag unless it's with another troop unit.
Don't forget (like I did) the laser lock rule applies to the serpent shield too. So you also get D6+1 (2-7) twin linked ST7 shots that ignore cover, when you use it.
Warlock's can't go into a DA squad in 7th, they can only go with Guardian units, so Guardian squads, war walkers or artillery.
Our assault units are really hard to use due to no assault transport. Most list I've seen that take scorpions are using their outflank move rather than have them in a WS
Than would free up some point for other things. Another option would be to dicth one of the 5 man ranger squads as well and take more DA in the wave serpent. you could then have two squads of DA in WS (not spam as still only two of them), then have the scorpions outflank Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, forgetting Wind Riders are guardians too, so of course you can use the Warlock as you wanted.
I've done a quick list in Battlescribe, still using the majority of what you wanted to take but with a few tweaks:
Autarch: Fusion gun, power sword, jetbike
Warlock: Singing spear, jet bike
8x Striking Scorpions (will use outflank)
6x Dire Avengers in WS with SL and Holo field
6x Dire Avengers in WS with SL and Holo field
5x Rangers
5 x Guardian jetbike squad with cannon
8 x Swooping Hawk
7 x Warp Spider
Wraithlord, 2x flamers, brightlance and Ghost Glaive
2x War walkers with two SL (16 S6 shots, still not bad)
That comes to 1488 so you have 12pts to play around with. It takes your troops total up to 6 instead of 3 (including WS). It's a decent enough list for friendly games, two weaker units would be wraithlord (but it's an awesome model) and rangers. If there's a MC though the rangers could prove their worth, plus they're good at forcing your opponents to go and attack them, if you get camped out on an objective early enough

No problem, I'm at work on an IT helpdesk and nothing is working except my internet, been sat twiddling my thumbs since 8am!
The only bad thing with the list, is you will need two boxes of models for most squads (DA, Warp Spiders, Hawks etc). You may be be to run them as 5 man squads as you build your force up (but they will be less effective of course). For the Warp Spiders, definitely get on ebay, the £23 finecast boxed set is exactly the same sculpt as the 2nd ed metal ones. Save yourself some money and get a better product (finecast is awful for Eldar).
Most of my aspect warriors are the 2nd ed sculpts and bought off ebay. I do like the current ones as well though, but the 3rd ed ones were just plain awful. If you want Rangers in your squad, I actually prefer the 2nd ed ones and you could get some of those dirt cheap.
I would definitely invest in some Fire Dragons though, you could replace one of the DA squads with a 5 man squad (may have to tweak other squad sizes to accomodate them)
I think a 3rd walker would be better in the list than the Wraithlord, but if you want the Wraithlord model, then buy it. I prefer to game with what I think looks cool......... probably why I don't win a lot haha

Thanks again for the input, I will put my thinking cap back on. Uhh what. Thats some really bad math. Even for estimating. More like.... 4 TL scatter laser shots - 4 should hit Then 3 TL shruiken shots - 2 should hit Average of 4? TL Wave shield shots - 3.5 should hit. That give me 6 strength 6 shots and 3.5 s7 shots for around 145 points. (You need holo fields.) I wont give any other advise because im the type who would advise you to basically drop everything in favor of the obvious much much better units you could be taking. But its for friendly games, so these types of lists are acceptable.

We were discussing hitting flyers.
And my dice rolling is appalling (I mean the dice stay on the table but I am unlucky) so I don't worry about getting the maths spot on. And it gets a bit more difficult when things get twin linked - bit of the old binomial distribution, or poisson distribution, normal maybe, bit of the old standard deviation thrown in, heck I never even heard of all that stuff.
