so i've never brought a lord of war to a game but I've been thinking a lot about the kill tanks recently. I've got a landraider-baneblade kitbash that's always been used as a battlewagon but it's substantially chunkier, and could easily be refitted into a killtank.
So are they any good? I figure getting a fast superheavy assault transport with a fairly average gun for under 300 points is a steal now the "Highly Sprung" Rules don't affect it and the gun can't be blown off. basically a guaranteed turn 2 assault unless the enemy pour in the firepower, I've been thinking about 5 meganobs with a megaboss in one, because battlewagons have been getting one-shotted too often. might sub the boss for a
KFF mek and a painboy, it's not like 20 S9 AP2 attacks "just won't cut it" enough to need a boss. and the mek can fix the tank.
the other one I'm thinking about is the kill bursta, with a bursta gun. it's more likely to do a deal of damage, and I'm almost erring away from it for that - the kill krusha can do some stuff, but the kill bursta will, and I'm not a fan of auto-success units.it'll also attract a lot more attention, due to S

pieplate nastiness. and it's more expensive, not fast... ...yeah, there's a lot of downside to the killbursta. 125 points more, I could put that to making the unit inside more damaging.
killblasta seems overly meh for the points, average 21 S6 shots. I don't doubt its powerful (especially with the grot gunners!) but it's unlikely to wipe anything
MEQ or better in one salvo.
have had a thought for upping the damage output of the killblasta. simply attach 2 bigmeks, one with
SAG and one with mega armour &
KFF, then put in a unit of lootas with 3 meks with KMB's. mega armour makes the whole lot able to fire on the move, so a tank rolling 6" and outputting D3 x 7 S7 Shots, a
SAG shot, 4 KMB shots and the tanks guns at different targets, has a 5++ save from shooting and 5 meks inside fixing, total of 598 points. sounds pretty sweet to me!
Thoughts, anyone?
