Alright, so my first go at painting Japanese Infantry in 28mm scale and was wondering which colours to purchase. I have almost finished painting my Sci Fi range as a result I only have GW paints.

So to paint these guys, whats a decent set of paints to look for from any brand?

Im after the uniform colours of the 2 soldiers on the far left. It seems a lot of paint schemes I could find are all for jungle fighters, but I much prefer the mainland china look.

Also the Officer furthest to the right colours would be great too.

Cheers

Somewhere in south-central England.

Someone like Vallejo or Tamiya probably does a set of Japanese WW2 colours.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

They do for tanks. As far as I can see anyway.

If all else fails I may just use this guide:

Ill try paint it a bit better than that, but its not quite the colours im after. But it looks OK I guess.

I've also just starting on a Japanese army so I've also been looking for painting guides.

There are a whole list of painting guides here. I like the Lead Legion one.

I'd say the colours I think match your pictures are VMC Khaki Grey 880 and maybe VMC Khaki 988 if you think it's not grey enough. VMC Japanese Uniform 923 might be suitable for the more yellow officer. I'm doing late war island defence so I've not tried those colours myself.

Thanks heaps for that.

Ill read through some of them and see if any suit, im open to changing my mind.

I agree I think lead legion is what im after. I might just follow their suggestion for my period/theater.

Thats how my FoW japs are painted, but Im sure how well they would look when used on 28mm models.

I have that guide in my rule book. But didnt think of that...

I think as long as the main colours are fine it doesn't really matter if it's 28mm or 15mm, just tweak the shades and highlights appropriately.
