Hi all,

My local store is just catching up with the Collective OP3 now and we're going to be using the new tournament rules.

I've got to say, I'm kinda excited about it. - Lots of new fleets to try out and the like. It's going to be a breathe of fresh air.

Also, with the Enterprise-E just released in the UK, I thought I'd try a fluffy-ish fleet that might end up being kind of effective too.

USS Enterprise-E (47pts)
Picard (5pts)
Phlox
Lojur
Quantum Torpedoes

USS Defiant (43pts)
Worf (Klingon Captain)
Elizabeth Shelby
Tom Paris
Photon Torpedoes (5pts)

I wasn't sure whether to rejig some things, to get the 6 point Picard in or not. - I'd probably do that by dropping the Defiant's torpedoes to the 4 point ones. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm not even sure what a Crit does to the Borg Cube token, to be honest. If anything. I also feel a bit weird not running a resource.

Come to think of it, it might be worth reading the scenario again...

I like it, but if you want a little critique I have a few suggestions. The extra hit from the quantums is nice, but in this scenario the dorsal phaser array would be better for the points. Then you can drop phlox and lojur for TOS sulu (3) and upgrade to picards 9 for the extra action.

You could trade shelby in for lojur on the defiant, but that is a 50/50 thing that comes down to play style.

The thing I wasn't sure about that was.

I was thinking about Sulu. What put me off him was. I get an extra action, but if I spend that on Sulu-ing, then it becomes nearly a wash, as Picard-8 gets the extra defence dice and the auto-crit, which would, assuming the Cube doesn't roll awesomely on its defence dice, give me good odds, on getting the Quantums +1 damage in too.

I suppose, not having played the scenario before, the question is, Is the Enterprise E going to be in range 1 of the Cube more often, or am I going to be in range 3?

I've got to say, being slightly cowardly, I'd rather stay closer to the range 3 end of the spectrum.

One thing to keep in mind is that every other turn you get to control the borg cube. So unless your opponent runs for it you will only need your defensive upgrades every other turn. On your turn to control the cube TL & BS, on the opponents turn sulu and TL. It's not a bad idea to yest fly the ships at home just to see how they may maneuver around the cube.
