Hi guys,

this one should be a quick and easy one to resolve. So if i equip my Hive tyrant with TL devourers and give him wings, does this make him useless in combat since he has no combat weapons? Or am i being totally stupid here? On my model there doesn't seem to be any type of scything talons on him what so ever.

Also with a flyrant, since he's very shooty, where would the best place be to start him off in the game, how would you protect him throughout the game and would you avoid combat at all cost?

What would be your perfect set out for your Hive tyrant?

Just wanting to know these basics as he is one of the main threats in our army and plus I'm new to nids and I'm just wanting to know this in general

Thanks y'all

A tyrant without talons still has her base attacks and they're still AP2 because of Smash. So having two TL Devourers isn't going to hurt anything. The wings do not replace a weapon. And the set up is always Wings, 2x TL Devourers, Electroshock Grubs. That is what everyone means when they say 'Flyrant'.

Deployment depends on if you go first or second. If there's LOS blocking terrain, hide her behind that. Wings can't be targeted so they don't matter, just the body. If there's not, I either hide her next to a Venomthrope and behind another model for a 2+ cover save on Turn one, or put her in the farthest corner if I'm playing too few points to run a Venom. If you go first and are willing to risk the enemy Stealing Initiative thing, then it's less import where she starts. And then send her swooping the rest of the game. Never exit swooping and never go into Close Combat.

Wings can't be targeted? Source and page please. I've lost a Flyrant due to Tau targeting the wings.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Line of site can be drawn from the body, stuff like wings and weapons or pole arms are not included since it will take away from people being creative for modelling.

Head torso arms or legs. I am on the iPad version so can't give page numbers for the book. Page 377 for iPad or check out the section Line of Sight. You should see a pic of a guy in a red t shirt doing a line of sight check.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Which is hilarious, because in the case of Tyranids FMCs, the wings are the largest part of the model. The rule is meant to be there to stop arguments over little things, like 'I can see your models antennae over that wall so I can draw LOS!'.
