Never trash brushes... there is always need; for terrain, for metallics and for dry-brushing. That's my opinion anyway.

Keep all your brushes. Never know when you will need one.

I just keep two brushes at my desk when I am painting usually. A #0 and a #5/0 so I can do most of the things I want with the 0 and fine details with the other.

I keep a metal cup thing near my desk that is filled with all kinds of brushes...crappy old ones, good ones, new ones everything I might need. Don't trash any because the moment you do is the moment you want to use it lol

If you're asking which to throw away because you have too many, why are you looking at buying more?

As the others have said keep them, you never know when it'll be helpful.

The ones that you don't use, put away on a drawer somewhere. You never know, you may need a brush for glue, gap filler, drybrush, or varnish one day

Or you may just change your mind on what your favorite brush is!

Keep the brushes.
And yes Sable is Mårhår.

Personally I'm switching over to W&N Series 7 for both NMM and Metallics. And I'll keep everything else for glue, liquid gap fillers etc. I never know when I'm gonna be needing a junk brush or two.
Ebay is your friend if you can't source any locally. Try contacting Arts supply stores.
Found this one. If shipping is reasonable I might place an order myself.

I use some of my old brushes to apply liquid plastic cement. Once dry there is very little evidence left & they can be used again & again for this purpose. Don't use the brush that is stuck to the underside of the lid - use your clippers to snip it off & throw it away.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Since I started to use decent Kolinsky brushes that seem to last forever I've slowly been running out of spare crappy brushes, so I say keep them

Ok, where to start... No you are not even close to having to many brushes BUT you might have to many on your paintstation to make it be easily accessible.

When I suggest is a brush organizer. Maybe something like...

Store brushes you use seldom and have the favourites placed in a cup, stand or similar on the workbench.

To buy new W&N S7 brushes my tip is http://www.artsupplies.co.uk/item-winsor-&-newton-series-7-brush-set-%284%29.htm good price and ship to Sweden.

I doubt that i need all the brushes from the W&N Series 7 right?
What brushes do you realy need from those?....

Well i dont realy mean trow em away. but they are so many i dont know wich one to use
i just want to know who to put away for other uses when needed. and who to realy keep for painting the model. basecoating, washing, drybrushing, midhighlight, extreme and edge highlight

So. i think i'll use another word then "trow away".
What i mean is that i got so many i dont know who to use for just someting simple like basecoating.
so who to keep for painting and the others i put away for another job when needed.
since i dont want any brush strokes and some of the cheaper brushes might give that?.

I use a 3, but am going to order a pair of 2's as well.
And additional 0's and 00's.
But a good "starter kit" would be #2,#0 and 00.
Actually the points are so good that my 00 is seldom used.
But handy to have available none the less.
80-90% of what i do with hairy sticks is done with my W&N S7 #3.
In a pinch you will get very far with a #2 and #0.
Just my two cents.

Never throw away brushes. The scrubbiest old ones in my collection end up as tufts of long grass on bases. The handles are used for mixing epoxy, for whittling into wooden poles, and so on.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I use AP character brushes for most of my work, obviously I go smaller for fine details. But I also have LOADS of other brushes for PVA, for water effects, for drybrushing, undercoating, base coating on tanks, flicking water or paint or ink at minis, applying decals and load of other things no doubt.

TL;DR: You can NEVER have too many brushes

Use what you got before getting more brushes. Practice painting instead of worrying about your equipment. When the brushes get worn out, replace them with better brushes.

Imho, the 00 is the one of your brushes that you have least use of. A good point on a 0 or 1 I usually better since they hold paint better thus the paint wont dry on the brush as easily.
