Hello all!
I played 40k about ten years ago. Imperial guard and tau. I have been getting the urge to play again, and this week I finally caved in and bought some models. I'll be making my comeback as Eldar this time. Can't wait

Some people really do play for fun only. I guess I'm one of the rare 40k players who doesn't care if I win or not. I'm more into the painting/collecting aspect of the hobby anyway.

Right there with you. I've been on the receiving end of some epic defeats and had a grand old time every step of the way. I'm in it for the experience -- the meticulously painted armies, crafted terrain and immersive lore and scenarios. The outcome of the game is fairly low on the totem pole when it comes to enjoyment. I'm more bitter/grimmaced when my opponent deploys unpainted miniatures. :(

Welcome to the forum! I am also brand new around here and came back after about 15 years. A lot to wrap your head around and your bank account would have seen better days, but I love every minute of it, even though I had to switch to Ramen noodles for just about every meal. Small price to pay in any event.

Ebay is your friend. I'm working on a Militarum Tempestus Scions army and I recently bought a few sets of Scions from GW, which can also be made into a command squad. I noticed that I didn't touch any of the command squad bits so I went on eBay and bought 5 legs/torsos/backpacks/bases for about $7. So instead of buying an entire new set of Scions($35), I got a command squad for under $10. If you keep an eye on eBay you can really save A LOT of money.
