With my (Renegade) Guard reaching a decently playable 1500 with multiple builds possible I have started looking into allies for them, I wanted a highly elite force that gave me excellent modelling opportunities and the chance to explore some of the previous less used aspects of the Traitor Legions. Since I run my guard as either AM or IA13 Renegades I had a decent choice of codex's to use for my allies, weighing up either using Black Legion or Champions of Fenris as a basis for an elite World Eater warband I eventually plumped for the more elite nature of Champions of Fenris as it seems to give me a wider host of modelling opportunities (Codex Sacrilege I know). I want to represent TRUE Veterans of the Heresy, marines who have lived the aeons in the warp, men who stood at the walls of terror and screamed to the gods to make them tumble. For this reason I have thus far gone a very elite root, using my Chaos Lord as a Counts as Wolf Lord, and planning on doing two counts as Iron Priests for my compulsory elites slots. The why is quite simple, the codex means always accepting challenges, the model choice means they are all multi wound characters with access to a tonne of wargear to show men who have lived long enough to perfect the art of war.
First up is
Porlan - Child of Slaughter
Named the Child to those who knew him within his Legion Porlan was still a relativelty fresh recruit when the heresy dawned, and yet he was no less brutal than his other kinsmen, as the heresy progressed so too did his thirst for violence, and yet he held an intelect that was rare amongst his breed, he stood no mere psycopath, but one of both intellect and brutality. When horus fell, and in the centuries that followed the World Eaters became spread out, Porlan became a warlord in his own right, leading hordes of lesser men as a god among their ranks. It is only in recent years that he has begun to gather his bretheren back to him, and this alone is enough to cause those who recognise him on the field to fear what is to follow.

I have mixed feeling about this. I do like the model and the concept but, lore wise it's a bit off however that doesn't mean it's bad by any means. I myself would of used a Dire Wolf model since it looks like he is already infected by chaos.

The conversion is sweet, what bits went into the Lord or is he a complete scratchbuild?

I wasnt sure how much fluff heresy the mount as but since the lexi described thunderwolves as "Thunderwolves are truly monstrous animals: they can grow as high as eight feet at the shoulder, their thick fur is as dense as steel wire, and their jaws, filled with enormous and rapidly replaceable teeth, can chew through steel. They are solitary by nature, attacking each other on sight, as if each one is seeking dominance over all other wolves on the planet" it appeared that they could perhaps be corrupted, after all dominance is power, and chaos preys on those who desire power.

Thanks!

Cheers, the Lord was an exercise in picking my favourite bits and hitting ebay. He is as follows:
MKII (or III) Command Head ( FW)
Thunder Wolf Lord Legs - Sawn in half to remove torso, GS'd back to usable condition
Salamanders torso ( FW), Minor cutting
Praetors left and right arms ( FW)
Moloc's Spear ( FW)
TW Lord shoulderpad (with cape)
WE Shoulder Pad
Possessed Backpack.
Ridiculously diverse but I picked my absolute favourite components at every opportunity.

That's really cool. An outside the box take on the World Eaters. I really like the concept. Subbed

Today finished model, Ashul the Denied (Counts as Iron Priest)
Too old to pass through the trials to become a full battle brother Ashul was elevated to their stature through a number of brutal surgeries which, whilst effective, have left him in agonising pain for the rest of his existance. He is a hulking brute of a man standing taller than most full marines, his armour is an ancient ornate piece that predates even the heresy by centuries. Ashul had ensured the legions machines of war stood in good repair during the heresy, personally overseeing some small part of the bombardment of the palace walls on Terra. And yet since the heresy little is known of his actions, whispers talk of foul creations striding forth from Daemon Forges at his behest, but such rumours are not to be believed by sane men. Ashul was the first to answer his battle brothers call to arms, to join the war to scour all those unworthy from the galaxy.

Now there is a "proper" devotee of Khorne. What will he count as on the tabletop? I mean can Iron Priests have Thunderwolves? Love the extra details all over the model. Can we get a side by side with the Lord?

Yup he is an Iron Priest on Thunder Wolf, still getting used to the new camera so excuse the blur but the two side by side look a little something like:

Cool, very cool. Thanks for the side by side. I definitely wouldn't want to face them on the tabletop but with such cool models and paint jobs I wouldn't be able to resist....
