I've decided to make my small collection of eldar models into a list, not trying to be competitive here, just a fun list.

How well would this work in a casual game?

I don't mean to be offensive, but this list is really no good to anyone, those guardians will die to small arms fire, and the same thing will go with dire avengers, they will just die to any small amount of fire. Something a little bit more survivable might look like this:

HQ:
Farseer Jetbike 115

Troops:
5 Dire Avengers 65
Wave Serpent, Scatter lasers, shuriken cannon, holofield 145

3 Jetbikes, Shuriken Cannon 61

3 Jetbikes, Shuriken Cannon 61

This comes to 447, leaving you with 53 points to spend what you like, or you can drop a jetbike squad leaving you with 114 which is maybe a bit more wiggle room to add something like war walkers or some other decent fire power.

I know little about Eldar, so harsh criticism is necessary. Here is the reworked list:

TROOPS: 395 pts

3 Jetbikes, Shuriken Cannon 61

If they allow you to go over slightly that is fine, if not drop a shuriken cannon somewhere. My only thought is that Eldar Jetbikes are really designed for seizing last minute objectives with objective secured. Rather than trying to pack a punch, you may want to look at that when it comes to choosing what units you take. It may be worth looking at warp spiders at this level, they are great against Infantry and light vehicles, which you will see a lot of

I like it.

Farseer will die to easily though.
Mantle is a good alternative

What is Mantle? Do they make alternate minis?

Mantle of the Laughing God. No, you'd have to Green Stuff the cape but that's about the easiest thing to do with Green Stuff. At 500pt lists, the Mantle is too expensive. For the price of two Jetbikes you get a single model that won't die as much to normal shots. Still just as vulnerable to the MANY Ignores Cover weapons out there. Frankly, I'd rather have the spare troops and stick the Farseer in with them. It also gives the benefits of the Command Warlord Table to the squad.

already has 3 jet bike squads, losing one of them doesnt really mean much.

What ignores cover are you going to see at 500 points?
And like Ive said many, many times, even ignores cover isnt that worrysome.

Try rangers!

Imagine they'll be pretty effective at this low battle point range.

Local Meta is full of Tau and other Eldar players and it does skew my view, but between other Serpent Shields and Tau Markerlights hitting my low point armies, and especially Smart Missile Systems on Devilfish, cover doesn't do much in my experience compared to a good 2+ Look Out, Sir and plenty of extra wounds. You go up in points and I'll grant that it changes significantly, but not at 500-750.

Rangers are a bad idea though. They aren't effective at any point level without dumping points into Pathfinders and even then, it's not reliable. Jetbikes will ALWAYS be a better choice in the ~60pts range.

The biggest problem with the first list you posted is the lack of any anti vehicle weapons. Even at 500 points you could be faced with a few tanks.

The waveserpent can deal with light and medium armour well enough. Leman russes or soulgrinders might give you some trouble however.

Firedragons in a wave serpent would be something to consider, and are a staple of many eldar armies. Or a wraithknight, because who needs friends.

I'm liking the list with the warp spiders, will do well. I personally use hornets but it's whether or not you want to fork out the cash for forge world models and IA rules.

Agree with the previous poster. You need at least some anti-armor. Maybe drop the warp spiders (you already have plenty of anti infantry and anti light armor) and put some fire dragons in a wave serpent..

Fire Dragons are next on my list of things to buy for my Eldar army. They had to jump the list as I will soon be facing Leman Russ tanks. The lance weapons are able to bringing the front armour down to 12 but having those Melta weapons jumping out of a WS is almost 100% death for the Russ.

Thankfully in my local meta I'm the only guard player, so I won't be facing Russes at 500pts . Fire dragons in a WS aren't cheap pointswise so I think I'll add them when I expand this list to 750. For now I think its best to do some playtesting to see if I like the list.
