I just found Battlescribe a couple weeks ago and I now use it constantly because it makes it so easy to build an army list. However, thinking about the way the app works, I saw that there could be plenty of exploitations of it (I just tend to analyze things like that), especially if someone does not want to get supplements. For example: someone wants to use Farsight Enclaves because they have heard Battlesuits are scoring units in it. However, they don't want to get the supplement. The app tells them what units you can take in which section, and the player could make a Farsight list only having his Tau book... I was wondering what presents this, and how Battlescribe has access to so many of these data files...

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

If you are playing me, I would ask for the rule book. So if you don't have the supplement, then I say you can't use it because you could be cheating, or made a mistake.

Hell these apps are known to be wrong in some instances so I would want the codex or supplement book as proof.

Also if you want to say a rule works this way, I would say prove it. If you can't prove it you are wrong. So no troops if you can't prove it.

So no exploitations. It's a handy tool, but you still need the rules for proof unless you play with friends who don't mind you don't have proof.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

The main thing that prevents BattleScribe from being exploited is that it's crowd-sourced, and with the wide base of players using it, feedback is rather quick when an error is discovered. Hell, they maintain a feedback thread right here on Dakka for just that sort of reporting.

Ok. That's very good to know... I'll use that method if anyone tries to do that to me...

Sorry not trying to be an arse. I reread what I said, it could have came out I was being a Dick. I just meant if we had a rules disagreement come up in a game, then we would need proof to see who is correct. If there is no codex or supplement book then no proof can be made.

Yeah, in the unlikely event someone alters a 40K file for personal gains (possible with the built in editing software attached to the desktop version), it's most likely they would only be able to do it to their personal downloads; there are always the online source files which you can use to double check.
