Every time I come back to this hobby it's the same thing. I want a new army/project, I go out spend a bunch of money, get very little work done and put it back down for weeks/months/years. Well not this time! I'm back and I'm going to continue the last project that I started (which is to start a new Tau army).

So my fellow dakkanauts. I hereby pledge to you that I will:
1. Not purchase anything new until I have the most recent purchase assembled, magnetized, painted, and based to 100% completion.
2. Not play games for points values that I cannot represent.
3. Play each game using WYSIWYG standard, or as close as reasonably possible
4. Utilize all materials that I already have, rather than going out and spending money on new crap.

I don't really need people to reply to this, although since the painting and modeling vows thread hasn't been updated since September, if people want to, fell free!

But, I was too long, living with this hobby knowing that this may not happen:

Suks I commend you!

I did the same after a 8 year break (from 14 to 22), I made a deal with myself, I could only do it if i actually went and played.

It took a long time, and I spent wayy too much money, but im now playing. Stick to your guns my son! keep regular updates here on dakka and you'll find it much easier plus we can then hound you to the gates of hell if you dont perfom

Awesome! ...I wish I could say the same but my 2 favorite armies (Tyranids and Blood Angels) are going to raid my wallet soon.

Best of luck!

Good luck. I have utterly failed when I attempted such a thing.

Shred City.

I collect way faster than I process the miniatures. I have boxes piled on top of boxes with GW cases stacked on top filled with grey minis and lots of stuff still NIB or unassembled in plastic baggies.

I complete projects to my standard maybe once a month. :(

Ya, it will probably be 8th edition before I'm actually finished, lol.

I pledge:
1. not to buy any more 'till im finished painting, assembling, and basing everything.
2. not to let myself be over whelmed by number of models
3. to work on 1 army at a time

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I pledge:
1) To finish these 20 gargoyles that have been staring at me forlornly for the last month
2) Excepting absurdly good sales or deal on ebay, no to purchase anything else until all 3 of my new armies (DE< Cron, Nids) are painted assembled, based
3) Learn to speed paint so the gribbly hordes arent so painful.
4) Reward each completed squad with painting of a character or other interesting model I've been looking forward to painting.

1. I think the probability of this for me, even accounting for the nearest 1 million alternate universes, is zero :(
2. Sounds smart
3. This one is easy for me. Everything is WYSIWYG that I play, and I require my opponents be close to it. No, I won't remember that the chainsword guy has a heavy plasma hidden in his backpack. I don't mind my opponents using a limited number of counters, if they just want to try out units before they invest in them.
4. Sadly, this is much the same as 1 for me :(

I think if PP and GW went out of business, all remaining inventory instantly sold, and I kept painting for the next 50 years, I would still not catch up to my unpainted collection >.< I still have sprues and blisters unopened from the 80's :\

However, I will pledge:
- To work on my Dark Eldar army
- Finish Borka and Bradigus before Christmas

Unless of course, something new and shiny wanders into the hobby store that I can't resist. That never happens, right?
