Is there any real point to taking a mega armoured big mek with a killsaw, bearing in mind it replaces the kustom mega blasta rather than the power klaw?

I say this because:
* He can't waaagh! in mega armour anyway, so he might as well shoot, and the KMB is a decent weapon.
* Rules wise, the killsaw is basically a power klaw against everything that isn't a vehicle, but because they are technically different weapon types, he won't get a bonus attack for having two like a meganob would.

I really don't see what GW were thinking with this loadout. Twin killsaws, or at least swapping out the power klaw, would have been far fluffier and more effective.

Actually when the Big Mek replaces the KMB with the kill saw he still would get the +1 attack since both the kill saw and the power klaw have the specialist weapon special rule.

I think the bigger issue is when you would really bother taking a MegaMek since the SnP really nerfs footsloggers who often need to run at some point in most games and its better to pay 10 more points over the 40 for Mega Armour for a Painboy instead.

They do indeed grant an extra attack when paired with a Power Klaw. It was 4th ed (or was it 3rd?) when you last needed two of the same specialist weapons for the bonus Attack.

Kustom Mega Blasta isn't great. One shot at BS2 won't do much. An extra Attack and gaining Armour Bane is much better!

And then there's the other options: Tellyport Blasta and KFF. Either can be selected in this set up. The Former is great weapon when up close, the later really helps increase the durability of Meganobz.

5-th probably. But that's not important. You do get the extra attack now.

KMB ain't that bad but i'd gladly trade it for another armorbane attack cause it's much more tactically important.

Tellyport blasta is a rather confusing weapon. If it didn't cost that much, i'd probably consider it. But just think about it - why do you take mek in the first place? And the answer is KFF or SAG. Maybe if you're running Mogrok formation you got enough of them to play around with different geat options.

Cheers for clearing up the rules guys.

So if I attack a tank with the big mek, can I divide my attacks as I see fit between the klaw and the killsaw?

Why would you? You choose a weapon and strike all attacks with it. To split attacks you got to have a special rule allowing you do that. Like Cypher has.

Yeah makes sense I guess. I can think of times when other characters might use it, but I guess for big meks it makes no sense as there is never a time you wouldn't want armourbane...
