So I just got 6 dragon princes from a trade, and around 10 more silver helms, what is the best size to run the princes in a 3,000 pt. game, and what is the best rank and file form? 5 wide, 6 wide? How do you suppose I use them as I don't usualy use cav so much.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

It depends from what you want them to do.
Some good options are 5 without upgrades, 10 (5x2) with champion, 15 (5x3) with full command group and banner of the world dragon.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

Try seven/eight with a muso and champ. Charge into a deathstar, chump the champ, and win by 1-2.

If you're playing any of the end times stuff, Dragon Princes seem to be the elf answer to Skullcannons from the Chaos Legions.

Or Four-Eight Bolt throwers.

Seems like Khannons end bolt throwers more effectively than the reverse.

You have four to eight. They have two.

aaaaaaand a second look at the numbers makes me think I'm wrong on the effectiveness 1-1, due to the small 'base' size on the bolt throwers.

But since OP has dragon princes, they can happily shrug off some Khannon-fire while they do whatever they want.

Just don't get in charge range, cuz I believe the impact hits aren't flaming.

I know a guy who runs a horde of 30 with characters and BOTWD, ect all tooled up and does pretty well with them. He pretty much steamrolls whatever he hits. Thats at 3k+ though

I've been thinking about a Caledor-themed army (though I'm apparently not the only one), and I was thinking about running 20 Dragon Princes with BotWD in ranks of 6 with 2 spare at the back in case of casualties. I'd use smaller units of Ellyrian Reavers and Shadow Warriors on the flanks, and maybe some larger regiments of Silver Helms.

Thats pretty much how this guy runs his army. He uses archers and reavers to fill his core instead of reavers and shadow warriors. He also runs a few phoenix
