Bombs are basically not shooting attacks. So, can they target invisible units since they're not affected by snapshots?

Yes, they are not a shooting attack.

Except maybe they are shooting attacks. Could have sworn that bombs were listed as a shooting weapon (blast)

"Some weapon types, such as Template and Ordnance, or those that have certain special rules, such as Blast, cannot be fired as Snap Shots."

They might not be a Shooting attack, but they are a weapon, with a weapon type.

So, what does it mean? You can't drop bombs while jinking? Cause it makes everything snapshots. I thought you could. Cause it's not a shooting attack and it's not affected by snapshots. No?

And dropping a bomb isn't firing a weapon.

"Bomb is a weapon type unique to Flyers..." - the opening sentence of the bomb rule.

It's a weapon type, and the restriction I posted above is on weapon types.

You're going to have a hard time claiming its "used" instead of "fired", giving that it also "counts as having already fired one weapon" and "any additional weapons it fires..".

Fire is equated to shoot in the shooting attack rules.
Bombing Runs are a special kind of attack (not a shooting attack).
Since it's not used during a shooting attack, it's not fired as a weapon.

Nope, not that hard a time honestly.

A bomb will be a shooting weapon.

"A shooting weapon always has one of the following types: Assault, Bomb, Heavy..." - from the Weapon section "Type" rule.
"These rules measure a weapon’s portability and affect the way they can be fired.."

Now claiming it's not shooting attack is one thing, and I'll agree with that, but it is a weapon, and it is fired. Otherwise the rules it uses cannot apply.

Let's take the Ork Bigbomm as an example. Type is listed as "Bomb 1, Large Blast, One use only".

Bomb 1 means we must also refer to the Number of Shots rule, which reads as followed:
"Some shooting weapons fire multiple shots. Where this is the case, the number of shots a weapon fires is noted after its type."

Now we know it's a shooting weapon, we're told that in the Type rule, but without firing we cannot use rules such as Number of Shots, which really is required in order to be used.

Since it is a weapon, that is fired, it cannot be fired as a snapshot.

We don't need the Number of Shots rule - the Bombing Run rules don't allow for multiple shots at all. So your assertion isn't correct.

That might be true of Pre-7th ed rules, but current rules do allow for it. The number of shots is written after the type, same as Heavy, Assault etc.

Bigbomm: Bomb 1 (codex: Orks)
Void Mine: Bomb 1 (Codex: Dark Eldar)
This is the format of all 7th Ed bombs.

There may be no current examples, but the possibility does exist for a Bomb 3, weapon.
And Number of Shots was only one example of the rules requiring this weapon to be fired. The "Type" rule includes other such mentions of it being fired.

Actually an example does exist in 'Bomb Cluster'.
'A weapon system with the Bomb Cluster type may drop as many bombs as its user wishes as part of a single bombing run'. This is found on the Avenger Strike Fighter.

According to the actual rules for Bombing Run, the possibility does not exist.
Spoiler:
“Move the model that is making the Bombing Run, and then nominate one model that it passed over. Place the blast marker for the Bomb so that the central hole on the marker is over the target model, and roll a scatter dice. If a Hit! is rolled, the attack is on target and the marker is not moved. If an arrow is rolled, move the marker D6" in that direction. Once the final position has been determined, resolve the effects as described in the Bomb’s profile. Casualties caused by Bombs are removed as per Barrage weapons.”

Excerpt From: Games Workshop Ltd. “Warhammer 40,000.” iBooks.
This material may be protected by copyright.

We have an instruction to place a single marker. We have no permission to place "Number of Shots" markers.
Nothing in the Bombing Run rule resolution (as I quoted) mentions firing the bomb.

And yet they have included the number of shots with the weapon type, instead of adopting a system like Rapid Fire. All 7th ed bombs have it. This might be bad rules writting, but it is there.

Regardless, it is still a weapon type of a shooting weapon, that is refered to as being fired in more rules than simply Number of Shots.

I never said it wasn't there - the bomb example has it as well.
It's just irrelevant since the Bombing Run rules don't use it.

But not referred to as being fired when actually, I dunno, following the Bombing Run rules (like I quoted). Not a single time.

Bombs are not a shooting attack.

All Bombs have the One Use Only special rule. Unlike other weapons, Bombs must be used in the Movement phase of their turn, in a special kind of attack called a Bombing Run.

as such it ignores invisibility, as invisibility only protects against being fired on, which happens during a shooting attack. A bombing run is a special attack that happens in the movement phase, it is not a shooting attack.

Whilst the power is in effect, enemy units can only fire Snap Shots at the target unit

firing only happens during shooting, bombing is not shooting.

therefore bombs away.
