Subject: To Jump Pack or not to Jump Pack (Death Company)

I have next to zero experience with Jump Marines in any flavor and none with Blood Angels, but, Shields of Baal and Space Hulk mean I have a 1250pt list on the way with the holidays. So the question is about 5-7 Death Company, which I'm hoping can be built any way I like as real models instead of the Dark Vengence idea of snap-fit optionless pieces. If I'm wrong, someone correct me and I'll just make do with what is provided.
But, the question is, should the Death Company have Jump Packs, or use them as a sort of Tanking Marine that can't score? The hidden candy center inside a Land Raider with a pair of Power Swords and their Bolters. Pointswise, I'd prefer to ditch the packs because at 1850 I will be using two Assault Squads with Melta and even at 1250 I have 10 Deep Striking Terminators as well as the Deep Striking Dreadnaught in a Pod. But Hammer of Wrath is working very nicely for me on my Dark Eldar Reavers so I'm looking to the folks with more experience either with Death Company or Jump Pack Marines in general. Is it a game changer? A requirement? Is the answer invalid because rumor has the new codex in early December and I should just hold off building the Death Company until then when the points are at 7th Edition levels?

I'd hold off.
Anywayz, instead of power swords, i'd rather have an extra guy. Weapons that do matter are power fists and power axes/maces in some cases.

Imo you need you assault units assaulting. Find the best, quickest, least risky option, and use it.

Jump packs are absurdly expensive for Death Company. Instead of equipping 12 of them with Jump Packs, you could instead literally buy an entire Stormraven to transport them.

Too expensive. I wouldn't bother yet.

Well, I'd wait for the new codex.
The pt costs may change and this could be good news to field DC with jps.
