Has anybody read the Tempestus book for the upcoming campaign box set yet? I picked it up and was rather surprised as my expectations were rather low because it's my first Black Library novel I've read but I have to say I think that it was very good and I like the way that it shows how the Adepta Sororitas and Militarum Tempestus think and act. A couple of bits came across as a bit of lazy writing but I only had that impression once or twice during the read. I am also very pleased to see some of the lesser cared about factions get the spotlight for a change.

Would totally recommend it to anyone.

It was surprisingly good. It needed a page or two more content to wrap up all of the plot threads opened that weren't closed properly, but it was certainly readable and didn't put anyone down unnecessarily.

Have to admit, mostly just happy that the Sisters weren't used as Worf and were actually pretty badass.

I agree on wrapping up the plot threads, a lot of questions I had afterwards were solely answered by the blurb.

Not finished with it, but I get this very pleasant sensation reading it that the inquisitor parts are half-assed and poorly written as if to reflect on the inquisitor's own ineptitude. Because it was only in those sections so far that I get the sense of bad writing and the rest is very enjoyable. Makes me dislike the inquisitor more actually.

So sad that all the IG and Sisters died. I can only hope that marines will kick the bucket too.

that's a pretty typical 40k story though, IG and sisters hold on as long as they can, all dying but managing to hold on so the marines cna swoop in and save the day, sometimes this comes off as kinda "bleh" other times GW manages to do it right. even though the sisters all died, they came off as "damned heroic" in the plague of madness as described in Codex: Grey Knights (an event that'd make for a GREAT novel)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I didn't see it as poorly written as much as I saw it rather bland in comparison to reading the Tempestor and Cannonesses(?) thoughts.

Despite the fact that they all died the same way I feel like the contrast in how the Sisters and Scions died was very well done, we saw the Sisters furiously cutting/gunning/burning down everything in a heroic last stand and then you see the Scions methodically and professionally completing their mission to the last.

Sorry should have added "Spoilers" to the title although I thought that a topic on the book would be enough of a heads up. My bad.

Well people like myself will be looking in to see if its worth the pick up. Which it sounds like it is. Just going through the shield of baal: Leviathan fluff book atm and its really good.

That didn't happen in Tempestus though.
