Hello I have yet to get the 7th edition codex (hopefully this weekend) but I have a question hopefully someone can answer me. I am looking to field a riptide in a series of battle me and a few friends are putting together of the next couple of weeks (each has a different theme).

If I take a riptide with 2 shielded missle pods, is it possible for me to perform a "look out sir" roll on shooting attacks?

Also don't take drones with the Riptide, otherwise if a drone is killed you are forced to do a Leadership test. Would be kind of embarrassing to have him run off the board.

Quickjagger, why do you have a major obsession with Tau and the Riptide in particular? It seems like you comment on every Tau thread...

I'm sorry if I want to give advice to people so they can play their best. Maybe you should do the same? He said he was new and he was interested in running drones, when it really isn't in the player's best interest to.

Anything else you would like to question? Origin of the Universe? Marbo slipping into reality and becoming Rambo? Y'margl jeanstealers, being related to murlocs perhaps?

Not like someone's gona shoot a riptide other than a bunch of gravguns anywayz. And drones leave you with a possibility of failing ld9 for no good reason.

The OP has had his question answered; he didn't ask for tactics on how to field a Riptide, so why do you feel the need to give tactics? Just because he is new it doesn't mean that he is an idiot. He's playing against friends, so missile drones are decent unless you are playing in a tournament or competitive play.

If he wants to do something that isn't the go-to option, people should encourage him rather than trying to convince him to conform with people who only take the best units, such as yourself and your Dreadknights.

I'd like to ask you what a "murloc" is though; I've never heard of that.

Finally, what do you mean by "threads like this"? That's a bit insulting isn't it? You're basically saying that the OP's thread doesn't deserve to be seen by anyone which is a bit rude.I don't go around commenting on how poorly painted your GKs are now do I?

It matters as he claims that I have an obsession with th DK and GKs in general just because I've commented on a few of their threads, so I did the same back.

Just because it is a tactics thread it doesn't mean that you can just throw around any old tactic.
For example: lets pretend that this is a Tau troops thread; would it make sense if I randomly said "don't take pulse carbines on your FW, rifles are far superior"?

He was contributing to a tactics thread about Riptides in the tactics forum by giving tactical advice. You just look like you're looking for an argument. If you don't like what he said report it and move on, you're just hijacking the thread to fuel your ego at this point.
