It really depends IMO, because if you're going down this route of smaller units they're best used as part of a mechanized battlewagon rush rather than a footslogging list simply by virtue of it actually being easier to handle since they all only have a 1 klaw and this often means you don't have enough HQ slots to kit em out with FNP or otherwise that you easily could with a green tide. Also unlike the greentide your opponent can take out your units piece meal, whereas the greentide literally can block the board as one death blob that is harder to circumvent than multiple units that can break or be wiped out singularly.
The strength of the green tide, as you probably know, is efficiency since it synergizes well with the BBP relic as well as unit-wide FNP from only 1 painboy. Also the large footprint it has creates a stronger psychological response from your opponent when you explain its one ENTIRE unit, it can make him overreact or simply become more defensive which plays to your advantage. You also lose out on the WAAAGH! for every turn after the first.
So overall, I would say it isn't as flexible as the Green Tide if you take these units footslogging. With something like the Battlewagon Blitz Brigade though, I would say yes.
