My gaming group is doing a sort of "secret santa" this year, and the guy who I got collects Eldar (Iyanden)

We're looking at about £20-25 caps.

So I was wondering what a good set to buy him would be? I had my eye on Rangers for a while, but I have no idea about anything Eldar so I was looking for some help on what to get? Are Rangers worth the buy?

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

Rangers are sub-par.
Get him some Dire Avengers or a Wave Serpent. Not sure how much they are in squiggles.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Dire avengers and Wave Serpents are things I know he has in abundance!! I don't imagine he needs any more than the army case full he already has

If he plays Iyanden, what about a Spiritseer (or two)?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Support weapons. I don't see them around very often but they are great.

War Walkers are pretty much always a hit. Very good units and it's difficult to have enough of them. Other than that, Spiritseers and Wraithguard are the usual Iyanden of course. But who says you can't get him good old fashioned Modelling supplies as well? Magnets and paints are just as useful.

Warp Spiders are a pretty good choice in that price range.

If you could see this guys (50% Unpainted) Iyanden army - modelling supplies would not be a good investment

I hadn't considered War Walkers - thanks for the suggestion!!

I second the warp spiders or war walkers.

I recently got my war walkers painted and have done 3 battles with them. They are very solid performers and I'm happy to have them. If he plays Iyanden wouldn't that imply a wraithguard army? If that's the case then a box of wraithguard/wraithblades might be a good pick as well.

I know there is a lot of "Rangers are sub-par" talk but I run two units of them in my army and I love them, they are a unit reliant on good positioning and lucky dice rolls (precision shots and then AP2 both need 6's respectively) but they have performed well for me and I never regret fielding them. I don't know how much of a painter your buddy is but I had a blast painting mine and they are one of my favourite units on the table to look at.

Having a pretty large Eldar army, the thing i ALWAYS need more of is jetbikes. Its fun to play with squad sizes and squad quantities, and they are some of the most effective point value you can get in an eldar army. They also are useful for HQ choices on jetbikes.

I would go with a box of Windrider Jetbikes.

I second jetbikes, you can always convert them for jetseers and jetlocks at a pinch.
