I've got a couple of nephews who want to try Malifaux and I wanted to get them a little something to get them started on the path (I'd get them starters but I'm already getting them Operation Icestorm which wasn't cheap), so I figured a little box of minions each would do the trick. One is already decided on Rasputina, so I figured Acolytes would be a good box for him.

The other is sort of decided on Gremlins, but suffers from what I did at that age - shiny model syndrome. But since he likes Gremlins, I was going to start him off with a box of Bayou Gremlins. Not being a Gremlin player, I know these come in So'mers box, but will he have too many if he winds up going for So'mer?

As I understand it, So'mer has an option to play ALL THE GREMLINS. So really having an extra box on top of the ones that come in his box shouldn't be too much of an issue.

So'mer can summon bayou gremlins, so having an extra four is not a bad idea.

How useful are they for other masters? Best I can see they seem like the general minion for Gremlins.

That is pretty much it. They are not mercs so you can not hire them out. But the swamp hag, zorida is a germlin/neverborn master so she can use them.
