So, there are two different Daemon Prince models: the Chaos Daemons one and the Chaos Space Marines one:

Now, in my (humble) opinion, the CSM model looks way cooler. However, my local GW is hosting a tournament soon, and my list that I'm considering running has a daemon prince in it. Because it has the same base, could I run the CSM daemon prince as a Daemon one, or would that be considered "proxying"?

Both daemon princes are made from the same box. The kit includes enough parts to build one or the other and you can mix and match bits from either setup. It won't be proxying at all.

The difference is the first one is the plastic kit, which has more options and the Wings. The second is the finecast Daemon Prince which is just the one set of options you see there.

I never actually noticed that the CSM one was resin..... My prince kit from chaos daemons had a bit in the intructions on making a CSM daemon prince as well

Thank you for the info, but my question has still not been answered. Could I run the CSM model or not in a Daemon army?

I really dont see any reason why you could not. People use all kind clever conversions when it comes to deamon prince, and your local GW wount most likely mind as long as it's a GW model. Personally I woudnt mind if you used a bat winged barbie with a cool paint job as your DP.

Ask the tournament organizers. They have the final say. But IMO a Daemon Prince is a Daemon Prince no matter which 'version' you assembled.

Yep. Anyway, the CSM model and kit are waaaay better, so if you can buy any one, I'd get the CSM one.

I have a soft spot for the non-winged, old school Daemon Prince - IMHO, it looks way more sinister than the plastic kit. There isn't a lot of use for wingless Daemon Princes these days though sadly.

If the tourny organiser is anal enough to have a problem with this, he is a truely sad person. Daemon princes is one of the few places in a csm army where you can truely go nuts with conversions, and disallowing you to use one in a daemon army because the original model came from csm would be so insanely nidpicky i can“t even imagine someone having an issue with it.
