Hi, I’m not a Tyranid player, but I have a lot of Tyranid models and I would like some help making them into an army. I am a complete noob with Tyranids and I have never played with or against them in 40K. I have 20 Genestealers from 2nd Edition Space Hulk, I have 22 from 4th Edition Space Hulk and a Broodlord, and I have just purchased Deathstorm so that is another 8 Genestealers, 3 Warriors, another Broodlord and a Carnifex.
In Summary
50 Genestealers
2 Broodlords
3 Warriors
1 Carnifex
How can I make this into an army? What should I think of acquiring to expand this? Any help, feedback would be most appreciated.

The first thing you will need is an HQ. To be frank, stealers aren't exactly that great but if you are set on using them that's not a problem at all. As for next purchases get yourself a Hive Tyrant. Magnetize it so you can play it either as the swarmlord or a flyrant (Tyrant with wings and 2 sets of devourers) The flyrant is the best unit in the codex and 2 is the staple of most tyranid lists. With the new Leviathan detachment many people are moving to 3 flyrant lists but this isn't mandatory by any means. All depends on what type of list you want.
Competitive, semi comp, fun, fluffy?
Lots of little creatures, lots of big creature, a mix of both. That is up to you.

Thanks for the advice. The army is for fun, I kind of feel like my collection snuck up on me and I should probably do something with it. It's fine to proxy too. I enjoy painting different models so big or small are fine, although I tend to like painting the bigger ones more.

Not much to add I hear Shield of Baal has a special formation, and a "Super" Broodlord so you might look at that...

If the army is just for fun, as you said, then can't really go wrong. You have the basis to a really fluffy army with all those stealers, even if they aren't currently the most competitive units. You do need an HQ to fill out your minimum compulsory slots though.
With your stealers as your main army composition, you have plenty of anti-infantry covered. Currently vehicles are gonna be hard for you to tackle and you have almost no way to hit enemy flyers whatsoever. A Flyrant is a super effective unit for taking out really any unit, but shines at taking out flyers with his ability to put out 12 TL S6 shots into the rear armor of enemy flyers with his devourers on a 360 degree firing arc. Electroshock grubs are also a great add-on to Tyrants and any other MC able to take Thorax Hive upgrades because it allows you to harm vehicles of any AV value thanks to Haywire, and can still damage most infantry units with its S5. Regardless of whether you go the Tyrant route or not, you severely need anti vehicle capabilities. Otherwise, you have what you need to field an army.

I agree its definatly at flyrant that your missing for a semi competitive list imho, BUT, if it was just for fun Id maybe have a deathleaper as ny HQ in this list.
Lots of stealthy genestealers, stealhy commander sneaking up on folk!
(and that's also quite a cheap way to finish everything off)

Thanks for all the help! What other units would go well with this army, HQ and Troops look covered, so what about Fast Attack and Heavy Support? What is the usual anti vehicle unit? Even though this is for fun play, I still don't want to lose every game I play. Generally having a rubbish army isn't fun for you or your opponent. I don't know if this army is rubbish, but from what I've read genestealers apparently aren't that good and they are the majority of the army. Thanks again.

If you want - or even if you don't, because let's be fair, you've got one! - a genestealer focused army, then consider getting the black library dataslate 'Leviathan Rising I'. It has two pure genestealer formations, both of which are very good - especially in cityfights.
'Manufactorum Genestealers' is a set of minimum - sized stealer broods who can give an opponent nightmares about deploying in ruins because the get to infiltrate reeeeeeally close. They also get Hit And Run - which is nice given their ludicrous initiative.
'Broodlord's Hunting Pack' is a smaller number of squads (but with no size limit) and a broodlord who can appear in ruins or buildings mid-game, and get Preferred Enemy ( That One Guy Over There) when they do, making them a very effective reserve.
Stealers aren't bad. They arent great, but aren't unplayable. Universal rending means you can hurt AV12 and lower fairly reliably, so the only real antitank issues are AV 13 walkers and AV 14 all - around tanks. That's a limited enough target set that you can mug with a few monstrous creatures.
Your biggest issue is vulnerability to gunfire and overwatch - you cost the same as a space marine but tank bolter fire like ork boyz - and charging into cover costs you your wonderful initiative 6, which combinedwith the aforementioned lack of durability will lose you more than a few assaults. The answer to both is broodlords. Integral to the squad, capable of beating up many armies hq choices in a challenge, and equipped with psychic mastery 1 and the horror as standard. Pinned units can't fire effectively, can't fire overwatch at all, dont get to strike first when behind coverand can't run away. These effects complement a stealer brood's abilities and go a long way to covering its weaknesses.

Like Locarno said, with all the stealers you already have, you should totally look into formations for them. They will add a few small buffs that will really help out. Stealers are good in a vacuum but suffer on the board because of things like no flesh hooks, which completely nullifies one of their best features. You have enough stealers to run the formation for the benefits, but still use leftover bodies to cover your compulsory troop slots.
For vehicles, any monstrous creature will do in a pinch, but there are a few reliable options. First, I have to mention the flyrant again. His 12 tl s6 shots with skyfire will wreck most flyers easily, but can also do damage to the more vulnerable rear armor of vehicles, as he is so maneuverable. He should also be equipped with electroshock grubs though, which is a template weapon with haywire. So he has a way of reliably damaging av13/14 vehicles quite easily. I like crones for anti vehicle roles as well. They only have four tentaclids with BS 3, but again, the haywire effect makes av13/14 not scary at all. Crones also have a respectable s8 vector strike. Lastly is the old reliable carnifex. They are significantly slower than the previous two options, as they lumber across the field instead of flying. However, they are deadly to vehicles, regardless of whether you give them two sets of devourers (which seems to be a forum favorite) or you keep them with their stock talons and give them adrenals for fleet and furious charge. This latter option keeps them cheap and allows them to advance up the board much quicker at the cost of being a ranged threat of any kind, but I like to run them this way. Anyway, regardless of how you kit them, they get d3 HoW at s9, plus either 4 or 5 s9 attacks on the charge. That will ruin most vehicles outright, but give them crushing claws and you will for sure melt even the strongest of tanks. There are plenty more options, but I think these are the most reliable.

A tyranocyte might be a good addition - deepstriking a large mob of genestealers and a broodlord would be fun, and alows you to get close without getting shot.
Some deep striking ripper swarms would be useful a cheap troups to hold objectives.
Biovores would give some long range fire support
Venomthropes would give your genestealers a cover save, zoanthropes would give some anti vehicle (and come in the same box as Venomthropes)
