Hi all,
starting my first Kill team games soon and was wondering about lists i have put this together not realy knowing what to expect.
Leader - Crisis Shas'ui Cyclic ion blaster, Missile pod
Specialist fnp - Crisis Shas'ui 2x Plasma rifle
Specialist rend - Crisis Shas'ui 2x Burst cannon
Fire Warrior Team
6x Fire Warrior Shas'la with pulse rifle (2 of which need to be specialists)
200Pts
question is is this a ok list? and second what specialist "gifts" should i give to the FW's cant use Wepon specialist (rend) and cant use indomitable(FNP), so have gurrela combat and dirty fighting but am unsure what to choose, was going to go stealth but just incase i get the worlord trait that gives my other crisis a "gift" was unsure what do you all think??
Many thanks all

Hey man!
First of all, if I remember the KillTeam rules correctly, you need 3 specialist, not 4 (hence only 1 FW specialist not 2)
For me, I prefer Guerilla over Dirty figthing.
It's hard to put a specialist perk on a FW tho. They don't seem to be worth it haha. But I would either put Stealth or Infiltrate. Those are the 2 that seems to be the best. Stealth > Infiltrate unless you start to shuffle around things between your 3 specialist (like maybe giving Rend to a FW, FnF to the Burst Cannon guy and Infiltrate to the Plasma Rifle.)
Plasma Rifle with infiltrate could easily blow a leader 1st turn or a nasty transport.

I think your list looks fine and will be fun to play - crisis suits are great in Kill team, especially if combined with the right specialist Traits. My only issue would be the double weapons - while this is usually standard issue in normal 40k for Tau, in Kill Team I find going for the TL option to be more cost effective - with the reroll you generate only slightly less hits but you are saving points, and at 200 points every single one counts! Also you can only shoot at one model at a time, so for example 8x BC shots is a bit of overkill when compared to 4 TL.
My current Kill Team lists looks like this;
All Suits (FE)
Crisis TL MP, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL Plasma Rifle, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Leader - MP Crisis
Specialist 1 - BC Crisis - Haywire
Specialist 2 - BC Crisis - FNP
Specialist 3 - PR Crisis - Ignores Cover
200pts
Tau
Pathfinders, PC, ML x 4
Stealth team, BC x 5, EWO x1
Leader - Stealth Suit
Specialist 1 - EWO Stealth Suit - Haywire
Specialist 2 - Stealth Suit - Rending
Specialist 3 - Stealth Suit - Ignores Cover
199pts
Haywire on burst cannons is hilarious, even more so on an EWO weapon to catch outflanking skimmers by surprise (take that LSS and scouts!). This stealth list is very terrain dependent though - urban setting with lots of ruins works well. Pathfinders are also good cheap boosts for the stealth suit shooting, but can lead to a broken force quite quickly.

Ha ha, oops - I have been playing it wrong all this time I owe some people an apology...
Tau are still essentially shooting orientated in Kill Team so I would always focus on those rules that buff to hits/to wounds, etc. I would probably trade haywire out for either Preferred enemy (rerolls of 1 to hit and wounds on shooting and combat, very nice) or something like fearless - this especially can come in very handy with Tau if you force gets broken.
But as with all things, the specialisms should be selected with your enemy in mind. i.e. f you are facing IG, fear might be worthwhile taking, while if you are up against Tyranids poison might be better, etc.
Hope it helps - if you play any good games post a battle report! Almost never see kill team reports and I would argue they are the most interesting games.

Good man, I have some Kill Team Batreps too which I might get round to putting up today (although they have the haywire mistake in them too )
The thing I like about the stealth suits is that they come ready prepared with a whole bunch of special rules (shrouding, stealth, infiltrate, outflank, relentless, Fleet, can thrust move, night vision, immune to blind, etc), get a 3+ save and come with a burst cannon for only 30 pts. Compare that to a Crisis, and they work our pretty favorably in terms of boosting numbers (eve if they are only one wound...)

Yea i have 2 lists made and will need to flip a coin i think as its hard to decide.
Also i know where you got the haywire from i have been told that the new Kill Team rules took it out but the old ones had haywire on ranged (which i agree on a bc would be brutal, high chance to wreck anything)

Ah, that would explain it - thought it was too good to be true
Feel free to post your two lists if you need a hand choosing - any idea what kind of foes you will most likely be facing?
Also I have begun writing up my Kill Team battle reports, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/626266.page, only intro up for now but hopefully will get the 1st game up by tomorrow

Our FLGS has a massive mix! have one that i know will be GKs (interptors) we have 2 who play necrons (one also plays orks and SMs other also plays tau but he said hes doing crons) one that plays all sorts necrons eldar nids wolves a demon/csm player and finaly a SOB player so yea bar dark eldar I think we’ve got it all covered ha ha.
Crisis TL MP, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL Plasma Rifle, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Crisis TL BC, Bonding Knife Ritual
Leader - MP Crisis
Specialist 1 - BC Crisis - Rend
Specialist 2 - BC Crisis - FNP
Specialist 3 - PR Crisis - Infiltrate
Second list is
5xbc stealth suits (2 have EWO 1 will be leader)
1 fusion suit with EWO
Specialist 1 - BC - Rend
Specialist 2 - BC - FNP/Fearless??
Specialist 3 - FR - FNP/Fearless/ something else ha ha
Whereas the stealth suits add 1 extra body on the field the crisis adds 4 wounds (being 2 apiece) but with the shrouded and stealth will be rocking round with a 3+ cover in open so don’t know if that outweighs the 4 wounds less

Yeah, I see your problem - both list look pretty good (although stealth suits only get 4+ cover save in the open).
Given what a mix your meta seems to be, I would maybe go for the Crisis List as it is a little bit more durable and arguably more flexible in terms of dealing with various threats. The lack of cover save (compared to stealths) can be offset by using JSJ to your advantage and ending your turns behind LOS terrain as much as possible.
Specialties look ok too, but I might go for Fearless instead of Infiltrate though - you really don't want to be in charge range ever, and one fearless model means he will hang in there when your guys break (Tau really suck when the force is broken).

Ha ha, welcome to kill team, where every single point can have a big effect on the outcome of the game
Don't agonize over it too much, what you have is fine - personally I would go for;
Leader - MP Crisis
Specialist 1 - BC Crisis - Rending
Specialist 2 - BC Crisis - Fearless
Specialist 3 - PR Crisis - FNP
But its really up to you and what best suits your tactics - good luck!

Well results are in, the crisis list is evil!!
played 4 games won 3 7 - 0 and lost 1 as i got tabled (never underestimate 12" move with Ap3 CC wepons)
All in all though a very good list may swap Infiltrate (to what i dont know) but was invaluable against the land speeder.
was the most fun games of 40K ive had in ages!!!
thanks for all the help guys!

If you won 7-0 I guess I'll have to tell some of your space marine opponents my list then! Congrats though, Crisis suits really are scary though.
I'm honestly surprised a bit though, the crisis suit army I played against in kill team was surprisingly easy to table, but I've got DA, two tac squads with missile launchers.
