Ran this list this past weekend and had some good results with it.

Basic strategy was having Kyle and Garven hang back for a turn, accumulating Focus tokens, and having Tycho push forward quickly, trying to gain position against the enemy's flank. Garven and Kyle would slow approach the middle, allowing him space to dish out the Focus tokens to Tycho or Garven when needed, and shooting with the Ion Cannon against those that closed in. Garven would practically always be exchanging Focus tokens with Kyle, replenishing his Shields whenever he could, occasionally Target Lock and shoot. And then Tycho just does what he always does.

Thoughts?

Kyle Katarn
- Moldy Crew
- Recon Specialist
- Ion Cannon Turret
- Wingman

Garven Dreis
- R5-P9 Astro

Tycho Celchu
- A Wing Test Pilot
- Push the Limit
- Outmaneuver

Total Points: 100

My concern would be a lack of firepower. You've only got three ships, and only one of them has a 3-dice damage attack. If you run into a tough list you could really struggle to do enough damage. If I was facing this I'd be looking to take Garven down ASAP - at which point you have a single 2-dice attack and a single ion cannon (Outmaneuver notwithstanding).

I'm with hedgehog.

Despite all the token swapping and synergy, you're not putting out enough firepower.

It also feels like the list isn't taking into account turreted ships, since you reference the enemy's flank. You've gotta factor in turrets.
Pushing Tycho foward will likely end up with dead Tycho before he does anything meaningful, especially with the rest of the guys hanging back.

I'd be curious to see some batreps with this list.

Thanks for the advice guys! So any suggestions on how to beef it up? Should I replace Tycho with another X-Wing instead? Maybe Wedge?

Kyle with Jan, ion and crow title, Garven and some Zs would be a solid set up. Kyle and Garven can pass tokens around, Jan can make them evades if necessary and Zs either get buffed or just add numbers and dice to your squadron.

I just kind of dreamed up an alternate to this list using Kyle but having Airen Cracken Z95 and Wedge in Xwing to manipulate and abuse stress tokens. Here's the setup:

Wedge
-R3-A2
-flechette torpedoes
-Outmanuever
-munitions failsafe

Kyle Katarn
-Recon spec
-Moldy Crow
-blaster turret
-wingman

Airen Cracken
-proton rockets
-opportunist
-stealth device

This adds up to 99 points so you can change out the blaster turret for ion whichever you prefer.

Stacking Wedge and outmanuever caught my eye. Then I built a list around it. If you can get him on a flank, flechette torpedo and R3-A2 pass out Stress Tokens like Oprah on Christmas. Then Cracken takes advantage of Opportunist for some sick (6 dice!) Proton Rockets. Using his pilot skill to boost Kyle's Focus pool. Then Kyle cleans up stress tokens and returns the focus-favor and everyone shoots with lots of dice, lots of focus and target locks all around while your opponent flounders to manuever and perform actions.

My concern with this list would be a lack of maneuverability itself (they're no tie fighters that's for sure, but using the ion cannon might help alleviate other ships flying circles around you) and a lack of durability for the whole list. 14 points (5 shields) at majority agility 2 won't hold up to a stiff breeze... I see this as a glass synergy cannon. If it works, you'll put out lots of damage. If it doesn't... well it'll look cool when you go out in a blaze of glory
