Given the end times stuff, it seems that elves are very utilitarian. They do and use whatever gets the job done fastest.
Why not use BP weapons?
Im sure they could master them better than men and almost as good as dwarves.
Why not use some of the technology available to them?

Thanks
Austin

They're very married to their martial traditions. Innovation is something they leave to younger races.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

Plus they are probably more effective. A unit armed with muskets are a lot worse off than one armed with long bows. Its just that you can train someone to use a musket in a day, but war bow takes years.....which elves have loads of.

Blackpowder is dirty, smells bad and would cover their fancy dresses with soot
They're effeminate and agile warriors that wear perfurme, not grizzled bearded manly men full of manliness !

And more seriously, if everyone has the same weapons, what's the point ?

Who are required by law to own the bow and train with it from pretty much whenever they can hold it, most are so poor they can't even afford it however...

Also, whilst they could, they'd have to start from scratch - black powder is a dwarven development post War Of The Beard, so there isn't that level of trade between Elves and Dwarves that there is between Dwarves and The Empire.

Yes, individual elves definitely have the nouse to make black powder. But you'd also need to make the gun - and you don't know if you've got the gun right because you don't know if the problem is in the powder.... there's centuries of incremental improvements that the Dwarves and Imperial Engineers have made by trial and error that they won't be especially interested in sharing.

By comparison, every town with a militia garrison will have a bowmaker and fletcher skilled enough to put even those of the Imperial capital to shame.

Guns are noisy and inaccurate. How am I supposed to kill you with it from halfway up a tree at night without getting lynched afterwards? Not to mention the unforgivably slow reload times, the only things worse than guns is crossbows.

There used to be a bit of fluff about how the elves didn't trust black powder weapons because they explode on you. Thus no elf artillery crew would ever risk their long lives to man a cannon.

Well, now I want to make a custom army of pistol wielding elf bandits. With technomancers instead of mages and wooden clockwork robots. So thanks.

No, really, thanks! I kind of want to do that now. I can't afford to, but I like the idea.

Ok! I'm sure there are all sorts of completely legal ways for me to get that sort of money...

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone here know how to rob a bank?

It shouldn't take you more than a couple of months to save up enough to get a couple of boxes. I suggest Glade Guard and Pistoliers... or just buying some Warmachine;

Guns didn't become superior to Bows until the advent of rifling. Till then, bows had higher rates of fire, better accuracy, and just as good killing power.

The only reason bows were phased out was because you could train a lot of people to use guns quickly. Bows require years of practice and training.

Elves have plenty of time to become proficient with their bows. And even if guns were actually superior, they're an invention of humans/dwarves. Its so totally beneath them.

They looked pretty pistol like to me at first, too.

I may actually try this in some way now.
