Finally finished writing the Battlegroup Blitzkrieg book, and Im finally working on my BEF vehicles, partly to revamp the army and to also illustrate the book and the painting guides in it.

Anyway, the first WIP shot of my armour...

Softskins to follow next for decals, then onto the work of finishing it all!

That looks great! I love early war stuff (Polish army for Bolt Action) and seeing that makes me want to do larger scale early war stuff in 1/72 with those large platoon-sized squads... what manufacturer are those?

These are looking really nice. I've always thought this period is great for wargaming, but it's curiously neglected (I guess the tanks aren't sexy enough). The Matilda's look especially good. Your second photo could almost be Dunkirk beach...

I assume these are all resin. I've been looking at the new plastic early war kits from First To Fight and S Models, and while I prefer plastic, they seem to be less detailed than resin - especially when it comes to rivet/bolthead detail (S Models have ignored the rivets entirely on their Mk III Cruiser and Mk IV Light Tank). And of course the range of vehicles available in plastic is still pretty limited.

Are the windscreens solid or just masked off for painting?

Those screens are solids, most are metal or die cast trucks.

Tanks are resin from mainly Lancer and Minimi wuth a few metal tanks.

Spent the evening doing very subtle chipping, and varying the amounts greatly, followed by a brown filter...

You coulda guessed who would be first for the oil wash...

The Scammell is looking great. I'm not entirely sold on the chipping - it would probably have been quite pristine - but it's very nicely done, and adds a lot of visual interest to the model.

Awful pics as I used the tablet camera as the Canon is away till weekend... so colours all horrid and pigment looks odd, but they are done!

Better pics when I get them in a game...

Lovely collection, Big P - but then you know that. I like the minimal dust effect - it looks right for the time and place. The staff car is especially cool. To be honest, much as I love BEF armour, the tanks look a little 'flat' compared to the soft-skins. Maybe it's the lack of stowage and crew?

Are the bases for aesthetic reasons, or because most of the vehicles are resin and relatively fragile?

I'd really like to see some more photos with scenery.

Second the request for more photos in scenery.

The one teaser was really effective.

I base all my vehicles for travel, protection and storage... and I like the look.

BEF tanks were never really stowed on the outside... RSMs didnt like it... plus not much time to acquire tat in 1940.
