You need some sort of modification to reserve rolls. A Fortification, a Command Rhino, something. Ideally, you want the Drop Pods arriving in two waves to really utilize the two Tactical Doctrines.

I am thinking of dropping calgar and going with a ml2 libby and 2 lotd squads.
I would lose a pod if I went with any sort of reserve manipulation, so maybe dropping calgar for 4 more ignores cover reolls scatter melta shots is a better choice.

Calgar's ability to be a force multiplier out-weighs a libby for me. Doubling a doctrine AND being able to choose to pass or fail moral is huge with ATSKNF.
Also, how are your LotD squads getting 2 combis?

wut...
To clarify, he has 2x combi-melta written in his list. The sergeant is the only model who can take a combi. I get that the squad can also take a special and a heavy (melta + multi-melta).

Calgar can't take a command squad, he's a chapter master, he unlocks honor guard. Automatically Appended Next Post: And personally I'd go with Pedro for a uber pod list. At 1850 you can get like 16 ObSec units.

I forgot about passing or failing tests - that is why I took him to begin with. Double doctrines was a bonus. Since I can't take the command squad, I guess I can use those points for some sort of reserve manipulation. A defense line with a comms relay that I can drop the multi melta pod on and disembark and run to get in base with the relay. That might work.
Army builder let me take the combis, must be a bug. Melta mult melta rerolling 1s and ignoring cover is good enough.
I personally think Vulkan > Pedro, but with the ability to stay locked an extra half turn at will it is just too big to pass up with double tactical doctrines imo.

It's almost like a weird hit and run if you lose combat too, you can jump out because they can't sweep you and then turn around and shoot them in the face

That is 1850. That list has won against some really good armies and it plays great. 9 pods and 10 units are just too much to deal with. I get linebreaker, slay the warlord, and first blood every single game. (Well except the two I lost...) I agree that it has to have reserve manipulation, but how do i fit Tiggy in there without losing a pod or weakening the effectiveness of the list too much?

Love LotD for their ability to erase a wave serpent when they come in.
That is 1850 up there. Calgar for the pseudo hit and run and double doctrines, Tigerius to manipulate reserves and do psychic things. 12 obsec units, 18 units, 2 turns of twin linking for the plasma and rerolling 1s for the meltas. Just crazy.
