Good evening gentleman. I am joining an escalation league at my local game store and am looking to start a 1750 point chaos marine army. I am borrowing from my friends sizeable collection as he will be bringing his Orks to this particular event. I have played a few games in 7th edition, and whereas I am working on a Nurgle based bike army at the moment, I was thinking of trying this following list. It is very infantry based, and I understand that this can be an issue. I just want to know if I can saturate the field with power armor and come away competetive. Most of these builds I saw on a website and liked the look of them. Again, I am sure I need heldrakes and maulerfiends, but I am hoping to come away with less daemonic presence and more of a renegade undivided force (kind of like the Night Lords or Alpha Legion).

Kharn the Betrayer (warlord)
Fabius Bile

15 Chaos marines with the mark of Khorne, ccw instead of boltgun, power fist, 2 meltaguns, and icon of wrath. (kharn goes in this group)

20 Chaos marines with mark of nurgle, 2 flamers, combi flamer, and mark of vengeance. (Tarpit and objective holder).

10 Chaos Marines with mark of slaanesh, 2 plasmaguns, icon of excess, power axe and combi-plasma. Rhino with dirge caster. (midfield objective grabber)
10 Chaos Marines with mark of slaanesh, 2 plasmaguns, icon of excess, power axe and combi-plasma. Rhino with dirge caster. (midfield objective grabber)

5 Chaos Marines with flamer (Fabius joins this group behind an aegis defense line)

Aegis Defense Line with Quad Gun.

So like I said above, I am hoping that Kharn and the Khorne marines will provide a Close Combat blob and that the NUrgle Marines can tarpit as well. The two chaos marines units in rhino with feel no pain should last long enough to hold objectives well while Fabius and company shoot down enemy air. Is this list going to get tabled in turn 3, or can I make a stand and maybe squeeze out a win or two?

Some constructive criticism. If this list doesn't do as well as you hope it does. Please consider the amount of points you have spent in marks and icons for the csm. What if those points are used to buy more csm?

Your list is interesting because it reminds me of Black Legion fluff of the Oath Broken warband. That warband is composed of outcast dishonored ronin marines. They get no support from daemon engines or daemons. They get no mauler/forge fiends, defilers, drakes, hellbrutes, terminators.

If you are limiting yourself to just marines may I suggest Crimson slaughter?
All your units get fear? Or was it just possessed?

If your list does not work out please hear me out.

Lord sitting at ADL+Quadgun-165
10 CSM, This squad joined by Lord. Autocannon and a flamer for overwatch bbq-155

10 csm, 2 meltaguns, champ with meltabomb, IoV, rhino-225
10 csm, 2 meltaguns, champ with meltabomb, IoV, rhino-225
10 csm, 2 meltaguns, champ with meltabomb, IoV, rhino-225
10 csm, 2 meltaguns, champ with meltabomb, IoV, rhino-225
10 csm, 2 meltaguns, champ with meltabomb, IoV, rhino-225

total=1445

Now all you need is a death star to drive that wedge into your enemy as the rest of your 50 marines follow.
Maybe Spawns? Bikers?
If you pick bikers

Equip your lord with bike, powerfist+power claw, sigil? Maybe MoN. Take him from the home objective holder team and give them IoV for fearless.
Max biker squad, 2 meltaguns will now accompany your lord. Could possibly spend excess points if any on Daemon Heart and BOR.

But for 300pts, can Chaos get an Imperial Knight Ally? You would need to drop some IoV to get 75pts more to get the Paladin Knight.

Or 3 hell blades.

I do like the idea of 60 marines and a knight. Have you used a similar list and had good results?

Thanks for the link to that youtube video. I have watched quite a few of them over the last few months. Just trying to find a way to balance chaos to my play style.

I fight ultimate cheese and lose.

If you can get an Imperial Knight and move that up the board and force them to shoot at it. (model ruins in front of or between its legs to block LOS to the units behind it)

And then drive 5 rhinos full of marines behind then you should do fine in most situations.

It might not be the ultimate death star but what ever.

However, you said you had bikers. So get nurgle bikers with T6 up in their face.
