This model and the conversion work is probably about 10 years old. I just finished painting it a couple weeks ago There are things I would have done differently with the conversion at this point, but overall, I'm pleased with the final product. Comments and criticisms are encouraged!

I'm working with a new lighting setup, so hopefully the colors aren't too washed out.

Nice scrollwork! Love the delicate way the dread's holding the halberd too.

Thanks! The "fingers" are probably something I would have done differently. Maybe make them look more articulated.

Thank you very much. I liked the idea of a GK Dread still wielding a giant force weapon, and this was years before that silly Dreadknight kit came to be

Can you show me the behind the scenes of this lighting set up? Maybe in a PM?

Honestly, it's nothing more than a large box (about the size that a microwave would come in) lined with white poster paper. I used a couple halogen worklights (something similar to this) and pointed them at the inside of the box pointed AWAY from the model. You don't want the lights shining directly on the model, you want the light to bounce around inside the box. Getting the angles and distance to minimize shadows so there's not too much light is the fiddly part.

I could take a pic of the setup, but it's pretty low-budget. My camera is an old Sony 4 mega-pixel CyberShot. Most camera phones can shoot higher resolution at this point

LOL!

I never really thought of that. I now have this vision of that puffy, white robot from Big Hero 6 trying to pickup the soccer ball and kicking it around the room as he shuffles half-bent over. Maybe he has a servitor that follows him around and picks it up for him.
