Going to London, UK for a month for work (and to reign in the new year) which will considerably hinder my progress on my IF army if I leave all of my gear at home, so I plan on taking it on the road with me. Not to mention my hobby is what keeps me sane after the hectic work day. I would rather not bear the expense of re-buying the paints in London (does anyone carry Vallejo out there?) if I don't have to so I was wondering if anyone slightly more science-minded than me would be able to let me know if I'm safe with bringing my needed paint ranges on the flight with me, and if so, any preparations I should take in advance.

Also, anyone familiar with some hobby locations or events out there within the next coming month, let me know where to go! I do expect to be flying home with a LOT more than I flew out there with (is there such a thing as a ForgeWorld retail store??).

I'd also love to get a few 40k games in if anyone is interested in steamrolling an American no0b.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

The TSA say you can take non-flammable paint either in carry on (with limitations) or in checked luggage.

I would put it in checked luggage so you do not have to mess about for hours at security getting everything checked. I would also let them know at check in that you have acrylic paints in your bag.

I would also pack them in plenty of sealed bags in case of leaks.

Dark Sphere is in London, GW HQ (with a FW retail store) is in Nottingham.

I was thinking of wrapping electrical tape around the caps to secure them closed and placing it in a freezer bag individually and then into a larger freezer bag containing the lot.

Just looked up directions from my hotel. GW HQ is a 2 hour train ride. That's one less American driving on the wrong side of the street for three hours. LOL

This Is Where the Fish Lives

Just make sure the caps are screwed on tightly and put them in a gallon-sized freezer bag in you checked luggage and you'll be fine. Taping the cap on each one is a little bit of overkill, but if it puts you mind at ease to for it.

Dark Sphere in London is a great store, check it out if you get the chance.

Definitely gonna check it out. Very robust store event schedule.

I thought of the electrical tape only because I've had problems with shampoo bottles, lotion, etc. exploding in the past, so I thought a bit of reinforcement would do no harm but if it isn't worth the effort I won't bother.

Thanks! And by the way, love your Star Wars modeling work!

BTW, is that Kirk Cameron as your avatar?

i always put my paints in the check in luggage...
i use an Art Bin, which is basically a fancy tackle box, and it carrys my paints, files, and knife...
the only thing i keep separate, because i have had it explode before, is my superglue, which goes in a baggy...
i keep it, and all my basing supplies, in a cheap plastic pencil case that goes in the checked luggage, too...

my minis go in my Sabol Army Transport, which i carry on with me...
it fits just fine in the overhead if you lay it down...

good luck, and have fun!!!

cheers
jah

Paint like ya got a pair!
