I was looking at the primarchs at the forgeworld site for a while, and I finally decided I loved Lorgar's sculpt far better than any other.

However,
I'm a little suspicious of his paintjob...

Example:

His face is painted wonderfully, but his armour... To me it just looks like someone painted gold paint on and washed it one too many times.

Again, right here, the color of the armour is very sub-par


However, the cape:

and his face:

are fantastic




But I really can't see his paintjob standing up to any of the other primarch's. Anyone else with me on this?

I don´t really get what you point is supposed to be...

1. Buy it
2. Paint it better
3. ???
4. Profit.

On a personal level I dig the paintjob.

I'm also not sure what's wrong really. You're not buying a painted model from them...you paint it yourself.

I think it looks exceptional but that's just me.

Not sure how the paint job has anything to do with if you should buy the model or not.. On a second note that paint job is awesome..

Better than anything I've done.

I know what you mean, the quality of painting has dropped from what it used to be in my eyes. Not so much from forge world as it's always been similar to what it is now. A good example is the painting guides. I bought the companies of fenris painting guide and it's really quite bad, especially for 20 smackers.

I remember in wd ages ago there was a face painting guide that was amazing, and only costed the price of a wd issue!

I too am at a loss with what you are saying...

As pointed out by a couple of other people, you buy this as unpainted resin miniature for gaming, not a prepainted statue display piece. It definitely isn't the best painted miniature they've displayed on their webstore, but I think it's a pretty solid job.

I don't get the dismissal of this paint job.It looks great imo tarnished armour and subtle sickly yellow energy in the maul.It is miles better than my current standard with the base and flame looking pretty damn good.

So buy it and paint it better?
