I bought the recent DA box set, primarily for the knights (both deathwing and black), so I'm only just getting to the Nephilim. I took a glance at its rules and had to ask, am I mistaken or is this thing kind of junk? Okay, it's a flyer, it has better rules than the darktalon... and that's all it seems to have going for it. Is a TL heavy bolter, a TL lascannon, and some absolutely garbage missiles any good? Is the mega bolter or whatever any better? I'm just seeing 180 points that'll probably get gunned down by turn 3, that's not carrying anything especially deadly, and that has no transport capacity.

So really, does anyone run these and get good use out of them for the points? For a fast attack slot I feel like I'd be better taking 3 land speeders or black knights for the cost. If you do run them, is there any role they're specifically good at? Las or bolter on it?

And the missiles, seriously? I feel like I shouldn't even fire those. S6 AP4. That are bigger than a marine, yet unable to kill him.

Nope. that's about the size of it. It makes a much nicer looking storm talon though. The one with hurricane bolters can put out quite a few shots if you get it near the banner of devastation, but that's a lot easier to do with a RAS.

The short answer is no, it's not good.

I would say the best use for it would be taking the megabolter and using it as anti light vehicles and infantry.

You would be better off taking something else.

BTW as it is ineffective at doing anything it may not be gunned down by turn 3 as it will be a low priority target.
