Terribly sorry of this is posted in the wrong section, if it is just let me know where to repost and I'll move along.

This is my first time in the WH fantasy section, nice place you guys got here! Anyways down to business. I got a buddy who got a bunch of WH Fantasy miniatures from one of his friends to play with my group. Sadly we all play 40K and not fantasy. So now my buddy has got an Empire army and Lizardman army he can't use. Since I'm a veteran of 40K he handed the models to me to try to sell for him so he can buy a Dark angels army. My knowledge on all things Fantasy here is rather...limited, so I was hoping you guys could help me out in finding a fair price to ask for these armies. I'll post the pics I took below and hopefully they are of a good enough quality to be able to appraise them. I have a box of bits that came with the armies that looks to have all the pieces necessary to fix some of the models that are missing arms and weapons and such. Thank you in advance ladies and gentlemen for all your help!

Did he make you a list of all the models? That will help immensely. For 2nd-hand, used, OOP, painted and off-sprue I would say 30 to 40% retail. NOS/NIB stuff is about 60 to 75%.

Just tally it all up, look at the total, and round down or up depending on how much interest it generates. Don't forget the finder's fee Jerry!

Lets see. The army on the last few pictures looks like its mostly Empire, but it also has quite a few Brettonian models(not enough to use as their own army)


You've got a Steamtank, Mortar, Hellblaster Volley Gun, and a Cannon.

You've got a Wizard on foot and a Captain/General on foot.

10 Halflings which could be used as Huntsmen.

14 halberdiers

12 Flagellants

9 Greatswords

15 Crossbowmen

13 infantry I have no idea what they are.

13 Cavalry models which are a mixture of Brettonian Knights and Brettonian Mounted Yeomen.

No clue what the monster in the back is.


You'll need to get a lot more Empire stuff to being this up to a playable force. All the units are way too small in number and the cavalry are not usable.

I'd say $150 would be a fair price for these things. Whoever buys it isn't going to have a playable force so that is something to consider.

Thank you guys very much for your help. I know nothing helpful about WHF and so these are just models to me, i'm not totally sure what they represent or what quality of force they make up. My friend doesn't know what these are cause he got them so he could start playing with us only to realize they were fantasy miniatures. Some of the models I was able to identify on the GW site but some are OOP and I can't find exactly what they are to represent.

That list you made is incredibly helpful Grey Templar. Thank you very much! And you're suggesting 150$ for all the models pictured right? Not 150$ for the lizardmen then 150$ for the humies right? 300$ does seem like a lot. My friend wants a dark Vengeance box set and so if he can make enough off these models to buy that he'll be thrilled.

I'm off to make a kijiji account now. Never used it before so this'll be an adventure! Any other tips you guys can give would be much appreciated. Thanks to both of you very much for helping me out!

$150 for just the Empire/Brettonians. No idea what the Lizardmen might be worth.

A lot of those lizardmen models look like OOP metal models. This in general will decrease their value. However, that also means there may be collectors that are looking for these specific models. It might be worth checking on ebay to see if any similar models are going for good prices.

I believe that flying monster is an OOP elector count on griffon or something...this guy

Gunna research the Lizardmen army a bit more to find some of the OOP models and then hopefully this'll be a painless sale. On my experience basis, the value of such armies tends to be over estimated.
It is true that they have a collector value, but most of the players simply won't like the older models. Plus, some are probably obsolete/useless nowdays.

I can't tell a fixed amount, as I'm not that familiar with dollars and US market.
GW has lame marketing so some boxes may cost 30$ and 30€, doing a dollar/euro conversion won't help me. But I'd lower from 150 anyway.

Correction. Its an Empire army with a few Brettonian Cavalry models.

Are you sure those are Brettonian Cavalry? I see the Empire horse barding on most, and what seem to be old Kislev horse archers maybe?? A clearer photo would help!

Some of those models will be metal. Drop them in Acetone for 5mins and then scrub them with a tooth brush and you will be able to sell them for a lot more.

So if I list for 150$ that gives me wiggle room to move down in price. |'d like maybe 100$ per force but I think if I get 80$ per army that should be ok? I will take pictures of each individual squad prior to posting on kijiji. I know I could get more for washing them all first but to be honest I don't want to put that much time into this. My experience with stripping paint, especially on pewter models, is that it eats the glue too and so I always have to re-glue them together. I despise gluing pewter models together and once it's all said and done stripping and repairing these guys I don't think its worth my time to do this anymore. I'll sell them as-is for that reason.

definatly sell these separately. Do your reasearch and see what others have gone for and set your asking price about 80% of the average. If you set it too high no one will bid but if you get 2 guys fighting over it you can get a good chunk of change for them
