so, with a couple ways to win this one, what are all your thoughts on this?

go for just killing the other fleet?

just try to get out of the quadrant?

or try to get out AND kill the transwarp hub?

feel free to list any fleets you might be thinking of.

personally, Im thinking of taking 4 brels and as many cheap upgrades as I can, and trying to get as many ships/cards into the hub to blow it up.

This scenario seems a bit wonky. If you take all your ships into the hub and I still have at least one ship in play; then I win. So if you wanted to take out the hub you would need to leave some forces outside of it to take out your opponent or stall for time.

It seems the best solution would be to be ready to joust your opponent but be ready to follow them into Borg space if they take all their forces there (but leave one ship behind to be the last in the play area if everyone succumbs to Borg attacks)

Yeah, I'd say take a party barge (Enterprise, Indep Flagship, Pike, 4-5 Followers of Kahn (depending on which Indep Flagship you use.) Into Borg Space and gun It for the Hub, and take some smaller forces and set up outside borg space to take out your opponent.

Going into borg space does not seem worth it at all. -2 attack & defense dice while you are in there is crippling to a lot of ships. 2 four die attacks from borg vessels, 3 attacks if you have 6-7 hull, 4 if 8+. So most ships will be taking damage with no dice, cloaked ships will run the risk of stray crits. Trying to take out the hub is a joke because it needs 10 damage. Entering the hub is even worse because everything on your ship is disabled, ( captain, upgrades, admirals) to attack the hub. You can discard things for more attacks, BUT you can not modify the dice in any way, so it has to be straight up rolls. Magic 8 ball say outlook not so good

Nope, not worth it. This one is going to be a 120 point throw down on half the board.

I dont think you auto lose if all your ships are in the hub,

but yeah, I do see a half board dogfight being the way to go perhaps

IIRC the game ends when either one fleet is destroyed or one player has no ships left in playing area.
The hub isn't part of the playing area, so if you take all you ships in you will loose. You have to leave someone
behind, but that ship will be left to face the enemy and the borg alone.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Scimitar
Salatriel
Interphase Generator
Cloaked Mines

45 pts

IKS Ch'Tang
Martok 9
Fleet Captain (tech)
Defense Condition One
Barrage of Fire
Interphase Generator
Jennifer Sisko

45 pts

Use Jennifer Sisko to disable any Cloaked Mines, Interphase Generators, Picard Maneuvers, etc. Then go full steam ahead, lay mines, and get a Barrage of Fire ready.

I like it, backs a punch and has some good defense.

Might have to trade out for Martok 8 to get to 89 points. Jennifer Sisko works weirdly; doesn't go by Captain's Skill.

It also isn't bad to give Salatrel an extra action

Or my blind ship. Martok8 is definitely more useful. And bumping him up to a 9 with the Fleet Captain and still at 89 points gives me the first shot against other 9's (most of the time).

I love Salatriel. She gives me a better chance of being able to take an action (like cloak) and still be able to fire first (if I choose correctly).

Salatrel is without a doubt my favorite Romulan captain moving and shooting before most captains is great.

That looks like a really solid list.

I also agree with all the other comments. In general I prefer Martok8 to M9 because extra actions can be so, so good.

Also, Salatrel is pretty much always in command of one of my Romulan fleets when I fly them. She is the best of both worlds.

I'd steal your list, but we fly faction pure for 90% of our events, so I'm gonna have to figure something else out. It's got great bones, though.

So for anyone thinking of entering the borg nebula check out the most recent news from the rules forum

It is official, there is no reason to enter borg space.

This is troubling indeed... an unwinnable scenario going in to borg space.

I think i'll just bring a B'Rel swarm and begin mopping up operations.

A strange game (scenario). The only winning move is not to play (enter Borg Space). How about a nice game of chess (joust)?

I think its funny that we have all these rules for obstacles and we have been flying in open space since the Arena.
That was only a planet, we haven't had any real obstacles since Dominion War OP2. Some days I envy the X-wing
crowd. Place 6 asteroids and play is a little appealing at times over open space borg battles.

I generally will use asteroids and planets/debris in my games, shakes things up a lot,

you really dont need much in the way of scenario rules if you place terrain to shake things up a bit.

as for OP 3 yeah... looks like half a board dogfight is the way to go,

maybe have one def oriented ship to escape for bonus pts?

We use a lot of terrain for home games, but since the Tholian Web the OPs have been a snooze fest for maneuvering
