So I'm (a DA player) am playing against Orks for the first time soon. I know my opponent is fairly new but I don't know what models he has but we also have a very lax proxy policy. In general, what models/units should I be warry of?

Beware the "MANZ" missile! Mega armoured Nobs in a trukk can sneak up on you pretty fast and they hit really hard. If he has killsawz on them they can wreck everything from tanks to marines. Also do what you can to avoid getting charged. Choppa boyz have 4 str 4 attacks each on the charge so if I have a battle wagon move 6 inches, the boyz disembark 6 inches, the boyz can charge (open topped vehicle) and reroll their charge range, if the waaaagh is called, and you have up to 80 str 4 attacks coming your way if all 20 if the models can get into range...... Nasty!

Ork's playstyle varies greatly. He could run hordes making your AT weapons essentially ineffective and swamping the board with bodies. He could run a speed freak army with everything in wagonz, trucks, on bikes and hitting you in mellee on the 2-d turn. He could run a stompa which is a reasonable but nonetheless killy superheavy. A walker wall which will invalidate your anti-infantry gunz. And some mixes.

But nothing is impossible to beat. The main thing about orkses is that we're an army of bullies. We beat weaker stuff to death. We tarpit harder stuff. But we're not super-durable ourselves and rely on numbers and threat overload. Make him approach in waves. That's your main aim. It's much easier to deal with stuff one by one as you're gona have force concentration.

Run land raider redeemer with assaulty contents.

I know all the anecdotal evidence.. Listen.. Deff rolls are dead the only thing you do is have enough fire support to stop tankbustaz from melee with land raider and you put this game in the hand of melee power klaw., which can feast or famine

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

^ while the above poster is correct any form of land raider is nice, please do not take this advice and put all your eggs in this basket.. depending on the points you have agreed to play at, the ork player can affectively ignore you land raider and play to objectives to still win the game. And believe me the one model is easy to ignore. The problem with land raiders is you either run one or many. One is easy to ignore. Many is a huge points sink and he could possibly still effectively ignore them. Just be careful

Also if you run a landraider, which I have against orks, if that manz missile with killsaw s gets to it then that landraider is going down.

This thread fills me with sadness
What happened to the fun of discovering these things?
It's like getting a film/book then looking up the plot/spoilers/ending before reading it.
