I used to use Purity Seal and was fed up with getting the same frosted look as you have unfortunately experienced. I've now replaced the spray can with Humbrol Matt Cote brush on varnish which, although it obviously takes a few minutes longer to apply, doesn't give me any frosting problems.
As for your existing models, I was able to reduce (but sadly not eliminate) the frosting by applying a gloss varnish to the model and then applying the Matt Cote to dull the gloss down again. I've heard that something in the gloss varnish helps to dissolve the Purity Seal and, as I say, it seemed to work for me to a large degree.
