Hey dakka!

I have just bought the MERCS rulebook. I'm having an incredibly hard time picking a faction that suits me.

I like the idea of snipers, but I also really enjoy close combat.... so a stealth based army with a combo of good range and good CC is what I'm looking for.

Basically it looks like it boils down to ISS, KEMVAR, Sefadu, and Keizai Waza, from waht I can discern atleast.

What do you recommend?
Let me know
Thanks
Austin

Mercs is slated for version 2 soon (tm) that was the hidden reason/ objective behind the boardgame kickstarter, so it is unknown how the factions will behave after that, maybe you should wait a bit?

From the factions you list the only stealth faction with CC and a decent sniper is Kemvar, so I suppose this is the faction you should look for, not sure how things will change with V2, but I assume the basics will remain the same.

Just picked up the rulebook myself.

Have you played any games? I'm interested to here some people's thoughts on the gameplay.

I've played a demo game officially at this point.

The gameplay is VERY fast and VERY simple.

snapping to cover is your best friend.

The ranges in the game are super simple.
If you don't have a plan in mind, you won't succeed. It plays a lot like a game of chess, where you have a chance to move 2 or 3 pieces in one go.
and you always have to think ahead.

all in all, I enjoy the game VERY much

Thanks
