I'm thinking of buying another batch of these things and modding them with Conversion Beamers as per the Lost and the Damned IA book.

How scary do you think having 9 of the little buggers mid range would be?

Here me out. Sure at 225 points 3 Rapiers would be pretty expensive, but they come with 6 CSM (Which are a lot more durable than the standard Heretical Guardsmen usually accompanied) Large blast means you cover a good area and BS4 due to the Crew.

I usually dont fill my Heavy support with Expensive things but these are only slightly less expensive than a regular CSM Land Raider. For 675 points you get 9 Rapiers and 18 CSM. Expensive sure, but still doable within a 1k army no?

What are your thoughts?

Deepstriking, pod armies, or assault armies would be a crazy hard-counter to this. I know my khorne army would eat this for breakfast, as pretty much everything is inside their effective range at the end of turn 1, and then smacking them in the face on turn 2.
A unit of conversion rapiers is awesome. 600 points of them is overspecializing.

I think a unit or two of conversion beamers would be an excellent addition to most CSM lists. The thing is that you would want to stick them with your more traditional spawn star, etc. What this does is your super scary melee units want the enemy to get close so they are punished for closing with you. In return your rapiers are super effective if they don't close. They are still decent at midrange so by the time the melee threats deal with stuff they are still decent.

Just don't forget a couple hellblades, couple blight drones, or a fire raptor for AA.

I think you guys are right. Maybe 2 squads of 3 at 225 (450 total) is more flexible. I simply like the idea of zoning my opponents away from objectives. The idea being run from me and get nuked, come close to me and get into melee with a beat-stick unit. Running a CSM Lord with some Chaos Spawn as my melee in most lists.
