My buddy showed up to our last Kings of War game with some new artillery made from prepainted Mage Knight pieces. They looked so good that I decided to take a somewhat similar tack for my Chaos Forces.

They're pre-painted (basic tabletop), compact enough for a ranked miniatures game, quite affordable and when rebased they look pretty good.

Did I mention I made 3 of these? Gotta love a good arms race!

I feel a bit guilty posting this in "showcase" but I did do the basing...

Not bad! I notice that there are mold lines remaining. Is it because of the material? I assume it's hard to remove.

Mold lines on this kind of PVC are very easy to remove with a knife. I explain in the blog post that I didn't do any cleanup because I wanted to keep the stock paintjob. I've got so many gaming projects that being able to quickly add 3 warengines to my KoW army already painted to a basic tabletop level was more important than doing additional cleanup.

Still, it wouldn't be much work to cleanup the mold lines and repaint and have a better looking model. I've painted over alot of vinyl CMG figs. Usually I prime with black gesso first, but they usually take paint well over the existing paint too.

Interesting. Could you post comparison photos so I have an idea how it'll look in terms of scale? I've been looking for trebuchets as well for KoW usage and these might fit the bill if I'm not inclined on scratchbuilding them.

Edit: Oh silly me I didn't read the blog entry. It's a bit too small for my liking but interesting nonetheless.

Comparatively, It fits the size of KoW war engines very well, being larger than most, but still fitting on a appropriate sized footprint. However, it is smaller than an accurately scaled trebuchet would be.
